Magnolia Pearl Ranch For Sale

My sweet friends, Robin Brown and John Gray of
are selling their incredible ranch
in Bandera, Texas
and I am so thrilled to
bring this exceptional
property to a wider audience.

I was fortunate enough to be able
to photograph this wonderland last month,
and I am beyond thrilled
to help Robin and John
present this treasure to the world.

"On earth as it is in Heaven"
And indeed it is.
Nestled in the beautiful Bandera countryside,
in the heart of the Texas Hill Country,
is a little slice of Heaven on earth.
Surrounded by majestic ranches,
the former homestead of
renowned clothing designer Robin "Magnolia Pearl" Brown and John Gray
is being offered for sale,
and utopian paradise hardly begins
to describe the treasures
to be found on this
exceptional property.

The delicate flowers and even the
faux cracks in the wall
are all hand painted.
Gorgeous!

On 38 acres, this expansive estate
features 3 complete homes
with central heat and air,
18 external structures,
3 delightful outdoor shower / baths
supplied by on demand hot water heaters,
and imaginatively adorned structures
such as a whimsical chicken coop
complete with chandelier
and birdhouses galore.

A cleaner and more spic-and-span
home you will never find.
Aged to perfection via artistry...
no dirt, mold, water damage.

The old world patina is a deliberate
and stunning embellishment throughout.

Everything you see,
and a thousand lovely things you
don't see all convey.

Window treatments, artistic touches,
and grace notes of
beauty throughout.
This is truly a place
touched by magic.

The kitchen walls above?
That's carpet fabric!
Simply stunning.

Upon entering the living spaces,
you will be charmed to discover
that not only do all the
fully functioning appliances convey,
but that artistic adornments
are found around each and every corner.
Between the 3 houses,
enchantments such as...

antique cast iron beds,
25 chandeliers collected
from around the world,
3 clawfoot tubs,
large stone fireplaces,
and spacious porches,
are only the beginning.
The interior walls were a captivating canvas
for hand-painted artistic designs,
true works of art in and of themselves.

More about the beauty above just a
little further down.

The interior ceilings are covered
in antique tins rescued and restored
from an abandoned movie theater
in New York City.
The bath in the main house
boasts a magnificent sink
designed by Robin herself,
featuring an abundance of
antique French majolica roses
acquired from the
Marbuger Farm Antique Show.

Vintage screen porch doors galore.

In keeping with this theme,
the entry gate leading up
to the main house is framed
by a spellbinding stone archway
also designed by Robin.

This too is embellished
by the same lovely majolica roses
as well as an exquisite
antique cloisonne vase
which belonged to Robin's grandmother.

Iron gate leading to
one of three outdoor spas.

The fully furnished guest house.

The old sewing house,
where so many gorgeous Magnolia Pearl
creations were born!

Notice the darling pink fridge
in the upper left corner?

Again, all 3 of the
clawfoot tubs convey.

This labor of love,
12 years in the making,
was where Robin's
internationally acclaimed
clothing line was birthed.

It has been featured in countless
magazine publications as well as
also being the subject of a book
published by Country Living.

Offered at $695,000, this property
is centrally located one hour
from San Antonio, Texas
and 7 miles from Bandera.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime
chance for you to be able to
grab a little slice of Heaven
for yourself.

Old Dogs, New Tricks

Have you ever wanted to do something,
been nagged  told umpteen times that you should do something,
but just didn't feel either the call or the inspiration to do so?
Not to mention the fear that perhaps you just wouldn't measure up?

That would be me.

I laughingly call myself, photographically speaking,
a "commercial hack."
I do photos for magazines and shoots for websites for other folks.
I've never truly considered myself an artist in the purest sense.

After all, these days, most anyone who has a smart phone
or gets a fancy DSLR for Christmas calls themselves a photographer.
But I digress. That's another post altogether.

But this commercial hack is making strides, actually!
I'm even branching out into shooting fashion and { gulp! }
REAL LIVE PEOPLE!!!!
Something I swore I would never do,
and likely never would have done unless
had believed in me and given me the chance.

But little bugs have been planted in my ear
every so often...
"Hey Anne, why don't you show your photos
in a gallery? "

Who, me? Pssshaw.
Not my thing. Not gonna do it.
Commercial hack, remember?

But I think I'm finally there.
They finally managed to wear me down.

The pesky little buggers who wouldn't give up,
who kept pushing me into doing this,
have finally convinced me to enter a photo
in an upcoming judged and juried exhibit.

The subject of this exhibit is "chairs",
and I am entering the one below.

{ click twice to super size }
I'm calling it "solace",
and the exhibit is later this month.

Wish me luck, us old dogs need all
the encouragement we can get!

Well, well.....

What happens when the well runs dry?

I've struggled with this very question for months.
What to write about,
what to share,
whether or not to share at all.
And then it hit me, with such an obvious certainty
that I was amazed I had missed it all this time.

You dig deeper.

I'm not talking about your garden variety writer's block here,
this was something infinitely more complex and messy.

It was, and presently is, the decision of what to share
with the world and what to keep private.
What to reveal and what to clutch closely to my chest.

I've had longtime followers send me messages,
kindly missives lamenting the fact that I don't blog quite as often,
that I'm not exactly the same carefree, lighthearted blogger
I was a couple of years back.

And they're right.

It wasn't anything quite as simple as blogger burnout,
it was more of a generalized burnout overall.
Too many posts, too many words, too many photos.
And never enough time.

Time to reflect, time to think, time to pray,
 and time to just BE.

And so the digging began.
And so it continues.

Figuring out what to keep and what to throw out,
getting to the core of who and what I am as a person.
Deciding who to surround myself with,
and purging anything that needs to go.
Prayer, soul-searching, friends,
and anti-depressants come in handy for this task

I've discovered that while I may not like other people
too much sometimes, I find that on average, I tend to like
myself even less.
Digging deeper gets you to places like this.
Funny, that.

I'm in a good place right now.
I have a wonderful husband,
friends who love and support me,
and more creative projects than I can handle.

My well is full.
But the digging continues.

Pocket Full of Heirlooms

I've discovered in recent months
that I don't blog often enough
"just because."

It's usually to announce a new photography project
or magazine feature, and I've missed
sharing little moments and treasures
just because.

I have something delightfully enchanting to
share today, the handiwork of a most remarkable
artist, Brandy Evans-Beadle of

I met Brandy at the Junk Salvation show
I photographed for Romantic Country Magazine,
but it was through her intoxicating Etsy Shop
that I truly fell in love with Brandy's work.

Meet Oscar.

Oscar is but a wee little taxidermy feeder mouse,
clutching a bouquet of blooms.

And he is one of Brandy's irresistible creations, now
perching expectantly on my mantle.
Doesn't he look right at home?

Brandy is an antique dealer,
designs fabulous mixed media, vintage inspired jewelry,
whimsical taxidermy critters, and just generally whips up
magic in her studio.
Just your basic creative genius.

Oscar has found an attentive and loving family
here at the Twig household, but won't you give Brandy's
other adoptables a look-see?

Perhaps one of them would be right at home
in your home.

:-)

Happy Week!

Thank You, Romantic Homes Magazine

I just wanted to extend a heartfelt debt of gratitude
to sweet Jacqueline deMontravel and the entire
staff of
Romantic Homes Magazine
for featuring me in this months issue as one of
"The Romantics"

It's a yearly feature ( every February )
where, to quote the RH table of contents,

" creative people reveal how they live the romantic life,
as told in candid first-person essays and personal photos. "

It was a joy and an honor to be included,
and I hope you'll grab the February issue.

Have a wonderfully warm and romantic day!
