On second thought.....

Ever go back sometimes and re-read your blog entries?
And what sounded wry and ironic and erudite at 3am
suddenly sounds puerile and petulant by the light of day?
Welcome to my world.

Kindly consider this posting an apology
for my for carnival-themed entry yesterday.
Upon re-reading it, it feels jumbled and a bit peevish,
neither of which I want to convey to anyone gracious enough
to read what I have to say.

Mea Culpa.

Unrelated to that, I'm sort of obsessing about
how to decorate my booth. Anybody know a good source
of either canvas or muslin backdrops? And by good, I of course mean cheap.
In particular, I'm looking for something to cover up the fugly pegboard.
I'm not the least bit crafty and I can't sew a stitch, so easy is the name of the game.
Ideas?

Have a blessed Sunday....
~ Anne

  1. About covering the peg board...You can buy really wide kraft paper at Loew's or HD in the paint dept. It is used for covering floors so you won't mess them up while working in the house.
I really don't know the price though, but it is a nice color!

  2. Oh Anne, you're like me. I thought your post was witty and wonderful. There aren't probably a lot of carnival people reading these blogs...or maybe just one or two women that have a beard! You are great. Don't change your humor. We love it!

  3. Yes I do, try the canvas drop clothes at Home Depot, painter's cloth, they are under $20 I think for a large.

  9. How about an old sheet, lace table cloth, or muslin yardage clothes pinned or hung with curtain clips over a piece of rope or wire. I've done it many times and you can utilize the peg board by poking a hole in or going through the lace with a peg board hanger. To Chic it up a bit some twinkly lights strung across the wire or rope. Very cheap...Sue

  10. Annie:
We took a trip to Trade days farm in Frederiskburg last month and I fell in love with the "curtains" in one of the booths. There were gigantic panels of tea stained color heavy muslin kind of fabric. I enquired with the owner about it since it seem to be too wide for the usual fabric yardage. She was kind enough to reveal the humble origin of the fabric(painter's drop cloth) and mention that even designers are using the material to make slipcovers and expensive pillows. I'm in love with it and it doesn't get any cheaper, it is a lot of fabric for the buck. So... the secret is out, hope you find some and love it too. Blessings, Marta.

  11. Hi Anne! Do you have an Ikea near you? They have wonderful cream colored curtains for cheap that would work great as the background for your booth! My friend Kasey (over at Lola B Boutique.blogspot) used them to transform her garage for her last home event and it was amazing! Good luck!!

  13. I lucked out and found canvas drop cloths at Big Lots...much cheaper than the big box stores! I even found one in white. At Lowe's and Home Depot, they come in different sizes (if they have any in stock) so be sure and measure your wall. Scrim at Hancock's is cheap yardage and gives it that dreamy look. If you buy the kraft paper, crinkle it before putting it up for a different look and to hide seams. Liz and Fran used the paper once and ripped out places and tucked wallpaper into the torn holes to look like tattered wallpaper.
    TMI???

  16. Talking Trash had some great ideas! When I was in an antique shop I used that crumbled up craft paper effect a lot. Best of luck with your new endeavor. :)
