Of course, I've layered my lovely hat on top of a vintage postcard texture, just to show y'all my new and bestest toy.
Yep, somebody just got Photoshop. ;-)
And I'm having a ball with it! I'm afraid that I'm gonna be a Photoshoppin' fool for the next little while, so bear with me.
Above is me tinkering with textures on my screen door pic from last Summer.
Below is the original.
Before Image:
My Tree of Life photo from last Summer as well, with a wood texture added.
Below that is the original image.
Here's the shadowbox I made (my first!) from a couple of days ago, with my little buddy Charlie perched cozily inside.
Yep, tweaked with PS Elements a bit, too.
I'm such a novice at Photoshop it's laughable, but I have an intense desire to learn, and to hopefully be able to create art worth sharing at some point.
Right now, it's a back and forth of trial and error with what I want to achieve. It took me a few hours tonight just to teach myself how to layer images and add textures, so I think I might have a steep learning curve ahead of me.
But do you know how wonderful it is to quite literally stumble upon something you:
1. Never thought you were good at
2. Never thought you would enjoy
3. Never had the slightest interest in
And then, out of the blue, you discover that it gives you endless hours of joy and pleasure?
Well, that would describe what photography and photo editing have become to me these past few months.
I could quite honestly sit here hour after hour digitally manipulating every image in my computer. It's THAT much fun for me!

Quick shout-out, I couldn't have done any of this without the generous assistance of Denise at
My Vintage Gardens. She's a whiz at PS, do yourself a favor and head over to her blog. Prepare to "oooh" and "aaah" , her work is stunning.
Watch my Etsy shop in the weeks ahead, I hope to be able to begin creating and selling my own mixed-media original art. Wouldn't that be something?!
Fingers crossed and prayers ascending!
Happy Friday Everyone!
I don't have photoshop but I'm getting it soon. Too excited to speak!

What beautiful creations, Anne! How funny--I just got Photoshop yesterday--been wanting to learn for so long! Haven't really gotten to play with it yet, but you're inspiring me to get going!
ReplyDeleteYou are going to love it...It's addicting!!!
ReplyDeleteI've been drooling over Photoshop for a while, but need a new laptop first. Windows 93 ain't cuttin' it anymore. Do you use a PC or a Mac? Love the screen window pic! And I'm a sucker for all things Scrabble.

Anne,
ReplyDeleteThe bright spot in my day is YOU
I can see you are going to have quite an adventure using your talent and a bit from photoshop. Even though we have tools, the real amazing moment is what we women can create. Always such a blessing to stop by your blog.
Have a beautiful weekend mt friend.
Love
Kate
Love what you've done! Photoshop looks like so much fun and highly addictive! lol
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend!
Hugs,
Karyn
Love your new work! Photoshop is SO immense, isn't it? My best advice is to keep doing it and don't take a long break, because you may have to re-learn each time as I do. The book "Photoshop for Dummies" has really helped me in the past... now if I can find it again I'll be in good shape! :)
ReplyDeleteHugs!
Sheila
LOLOL You're a nut!!! Have you slept yet at all? Anne - I love what you've done so far though!!! AND!!! I can't wait to see what you with your assemblages... you're very talented!!!
ReplyDeleteNow... go mess with the water feature thing on photoshop.... you'll be drowning everything. LOLOLOL

I've managed to keep myself for the most part off of Photoshop, Facebook and Twitter. I spend so much time on blogs I am almost afraid to add another addiction/distraction to the mix. You have fun learning and showing us!
ReplyDeleteBrenda
You have found yourself a new obsession AND you are good at it! Good for you! Have fun, Anne! ~Mindy
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna have to get photoshop. This looks like fun and the images you are playing with are so gorgeous. Love how you can change a plain photo and give it depth and texture.
ReplyDeleteLove it.
Oh Anne, I can tell you're going to have so much fun with this! Your images are beautiful and I know we are in for a treat know that you have figured this out!
ReplyDeletehugs
I LOVE that screen photo. So pretty - makes me want spring and summer to get here all the more faster!

I want to learn this too. So far I'm still learning the things my camera can do. You inspire me! These are great photos.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Marcia
Looks like you're having fun with PS for sure! I don't have it, I'm almost afraid to get it thinking I'll be to dense to learn how to use it. Maybe I should like Sheila mentioned up there and get the "Photoshop for Dummies" book if I ever decide to invest in it. Oh yeah, and I'm a Mac, so I wonder if PS works as easily with Mac.
ReplyDeleteHave fun playing! But not so much you forget about your fans out here in Blogland! hehe :o)
Hi Anne
ReplyDeleteI need photo shop but I don't have time for that learning curve...would love to though. Your photos look great! I used to dabble in photography a bit and had a dark room, that was way before digital, lol
Blessings
You and I are so on the same page right now! I am having a blast exploring all the possibilities of photography! Wonder if I should try and sell some of mine, too?
ReplyDeleteLove your work!

Adrienne
