Real

Time.

It passes so quickly these days,
so very quickly.

I often just sit and wonder...
ponder...over what has become of the day,
and how it is that I was able
to get so very little accomplished.

I met someone this morning, at my monthly haunt...
Fredericksburg Trade Days...a really lovely lady who recognized
me from my blog, and we chatted a bit.

She told me that one thing people really respond to
is that I always strive to keep things real here on the blog.

I try.

But it's hard to keep it real,
when things seem to be unraveling.

I'm dealing with some medical "stuff" right now,
and it's not my first instinct to open up
and share everything...even though that
would be the "real" thing to do.

No, I want to keep it all very close to my chest,
and shut you all out.
Bolt the door and hang up a "closed" sign.

But I won't do that.

Still...I need y'all to understand.
I need y'all to rally 'round and tell me that this too shall pass.
Even though I won't share just exactly what it is that
I'm dealing with.
Even keeping it real has its limits.

Just know that it isn't life or death.
It's a cross to bear, albeit a much smaller one
than many of you carry every single day.

For today,
the one "real" thing I know is that
I love y'all.

Happy Weekend.

  5. oh I am so sorry to hear you are having health issues
it is stressful and sometimes you think know one wants to listen to your concerns. But it is good to release it and share. Things like this are frightening and can add more stress if you bottle it up.
Even though you don't want to share with us I am hoping you share it with those around you who are close.
It will make you feel so much better.
    Take care

  7. Last fall when I was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer I got some of the best support and love from my blogging friends. We don't have to know exactly what you are struggling with, as God knows, and He is the one that can help you the most. Praying for you to know, "You are stronger, than you think you are."

  12. Anne....I am thinking about you and hope you are feeling better. Just know that we all have some sort of cross to bear in life....some different than others but sometimes when you are in the middle of it, it seems that you are the only one on earth who is experiencing it. It helps to know you aren't the only one. I am sending good thoughts for patience and peace in your life!~Hugs, Patti

  14. Sending good, healing thoughts your way...
Realize that there are many of us out here with burdens. I keep whispering to myself not to worry until there is reason-but it sneaks up on me and nags until I surrender for a short time and then let it go. I look around and smile, surrounded by so many things I love (and my husband gently snoring in the next room).
    Thanks for sharing!

  15. It's very true that all things will pass, and as you said time is passing so fast...so there you go!!

I can really relate to what you said up front about getting so little done. I beat myself up about it, made promises to myself to do better, tried making lists, nothing helped...but now I'm just planning one little thing at a time to get done in a day and it's working much better for me. Baby steps, but steps all the same.

  18. Anne....I'm a follower....please know that support of others helps a lot. Let the tears flow if they need too, and know that others care. I suffered some health issues a few years ago and I'm here to tell you, it does get easier but it takes time for the head and emotions to catch up and figure it all out. Blessings to you during this difficult time.

  32. Anne, I'm sending prayers and thoughts to you my farmhouse friend, so sorry you're in the midst of a health crisis....that's such a stressful time.

I will share with you something that always gave me comfort. My grandmother used to say, "to worry is to doubt God". It was her way of reminding me to give it all to Him and let Him take care of it.

Give it all to Him Anne. Lots of love and hugs heading your way...xoxo LA

  42. During Mass, after the "Our Father" the priest says these beautiful words that always give me comfort:

"Deliver us, Lord, from every evil.
And grant us peace in our day.
In your mercy keep us free from sin
And protect us from ALL anxiety
As we wait in joyful hope
For the coming of our savior,
    Jesus Christ."

I hope these words bring you comfort.

  49. It seems to me that, reading comments written by blog followers is like looking in a box of old letters and cards from loved ones in your life. It reminds you that people care about, and love you. I hope you feel better by just reading these. Take care,
    Leslie

  50. Any health concern tends to cast a shadow over our lives and makes us not up to our usual selves. It's perfectly understandable that you might want to have some "alone" time to think it all through. Time has a magical way of helping us adapt to the challenges we face. You have a smart, outgoing, and generous spirit which won't be kept down for long, I'm sure.
And, being "honest" doesn't mean writing a tell-all-book, it just means that the things you do share come from the heart, as yours plainly do.
So, no need to apologize about not blogging if you aren't feeling so inspired. It sounds like you have some "homework" you need to take care of anyway! Good luck with that and try to feel all the love and prayers heading your way.
It was so very nice to meet you, too!

  51. Blessings and healing to you, Anne. We can still pray for each other without knowing all of the details because He does. :)

  52. I think many of us feel like you do, Anne...some things are just private and aren't something we want to share, and that's okay! And I've finally come to accept that I can only do, what I can do...no guilt! I'll keep you in my prayers XO!

  53. After living thru Ron's near death experience in 2001. Loosing my Dad and having my own close call that ended up forever changing my life in 2005, having my family(siblings) estranged from each other since that year, and continuing issues with my own health and kids. I have learned that life is short. I do not hide anything with the exception of what is between hubby and I. BUT that is ME. that is not everyone, and I get that. However, I want you to know that I always, ALWAYS keep a good thought for all my blogging buds as they ARE my buds, pals, friends. I have no others. The internet is my life outside myself, sad I know, but true.

My positive thoughts and healing energy are yours!
    Many hugs,
    Susan

  54. Anne, I just wanted to know that by sharing your "real" life issues with us and allowing us to be on the journey with you, we are able to not feel so alone when we too encounter those difficult seasons. It takes courage to share the harder things of life but then we get to rejoice with you when you come out on the other side of it all! :-) Please know that you are cared about and prayed for!

  55. Anne, what you are decribing- the unraveling- is a a very REAL part of life. The thing about some of these always-sweet blogs is that it can distort reality- not many of us live that kind of life. So we end of feeling alone or depressed. You know?

I feel like I am hanging on by my fingernails most days- single mom while hubby is away, working, stressful job, health issues too- the list goes on. For me, letting it our takes a lot of pressure off of my already-spinning head and sagging shoulders. You don't have to go into specifics, but when you put posts out there that say- I'm feeling low today, it gives us a chance to send virtual hugs and smiles. XO
