Gratitude

 Sometimes

like lately

when I tend to dwell on what's wrong

instead of everything that is so right in my life

I look outside

and see this

just beyond my window

As far as the eye can see, this is our property

Such beauty!

And I so often look past it, seeing only shadows rather than light

My sweet friend Suzanne
of
Privet and Holly
has a remarkably poignant, thought-provoking post up today
and it really got me thinking

About gratitude

and possibilities

and choices we make

and how beauty is all around us

and sometimes...

even within

Please go pay Suzanne a visit

Read this amazing post

and follow her beautiful blog

She's the writer I want to be when if I grow up!

  6. Hi Anne!

Your property is beautiful. It's so funny that you should do a post on gratitude. Just this morning my husband and i were walking our dog along the ocean and i was complaining...he said Pam how can you complain? Look were you are! And i stopped and felt ashamed and said yes i am very lucky to live by the ocean and to be here with you and our Pilot girl.
Thanks Anne and to my hubby we all need reminders!

Thanks for the compliment about the new look to my blog!

  10. Thanks, Anne...it was a lovely post...I am trying hard to LIVE my life and find joy in every day! So often we are always planning for something in the future instead of living in the present and life just flies by!

  12. Anne, YOU are a beautiful writer and even more importantly, a beautiful person, both inside AND out! Your property is amazing! My current mantra is to be MINDFUL of all the beauty that surrounds us ~ the big and the small things ~ and your home looks to be smack dab in the middle of someplace very special. And, you posted one of my all-time favorite songs, which I am so loving, at this moment! You are MY Elizabeth Bennett heroine, sweet friend. Thank you for being YOU! xx P&H

  21. Gorgeous picture of your land. That's one reason why I'm a Texan. Anywhere you live in the state, you can drive a short distance outside of a city and see the beautiful scenery. You are so blessed to live on it everyday!

  22. Hi Anne, I just love Suzanne. She is such a wonderful new friend and I love her writing as well. I will pop over there right now to read her post. Your land is gorgeous and something to be grateful for. Anne while I don't have a DSLR, I used to shoot (before digital) with an SLR. I didn't want the interchangeable lens at this poit in my life, since I no longer shoot portraits of prople, but I do have a real nice digital that I shoot with now that has some awesome settings and a lot of options on it. It was priced right at about 450 dollars when I bought it a couple of years ago.

  23. I love your view. We all need to find the beauty in our own back yards! I'm reminding myself of Dorothy and I didn't even have to get smacked by a tornado to appreciate it!

  28. The view from your window looks so inviting to just to go for a walk on a nice summer day or spring. I would like some warmer weather. I enjoy reading your blog so please don't sell yourself short in your writing. I have certain ones that I like to visit. I have been gone for a long weekend. We had an enjoyable trip even for the rain. We know that we can travel to Branson from home and have doctors there that work with our doctors if we run into a problem.
I could take a few days just to sit and look out your window anytime. You have a wonderful day.

  30. Awww...my friend, I came over to tell you I finally got my post up with my Kerrville Trash. LOL I talked about being thankful...then I see your picture and it makes me want to cry. I wish I was there. I wish I was more content. I'm working on it. I need be more thankful and not always wish I was some where else. It's a hard thing for a Texan to pull off, but you inspired me. Thanks and hugs!

  35. You're property is just gorgeous. It reminds me of a safari retreat. I know exactly what you mean. I've been very bad about seeing what's wrong and not what's right. The pure natural nature of your property is spectacular. Sometimes we have to see our blessings through someone else's eyes.

    Hugs...Tracy :)
