Around the Twig household,
another day off work = another day of running stuff over to the new homestead.
Mind you, we're limited to whatever we can carry in my Ford Escape,
but bit by bit and piece by piece,
it's starting to feel more like home.
it's starting to feel more like home.
Here's what we carried over today...
My sweet chippy corner cabinet
{oh, how happy I am that I didn't take it to the booth to sell!}
along with a few more more doo dads to spruce the place up.
A few days ago, my husband brought a few other pieces over...
The guest bedroom.
These aren't in their final resting places, by any means.
These aren't in their final resting places, by any means.
An armoire is a must in an older home, as everybody knows closet space can be a bit scarce.
I plan to paint some of my furniture,
but room after room of white on white
actually bores me to tears.
I plan to paint some of my furniture,
but room after room of white on white
actually bores me to tears.
It works in the kitchen and dining room,
but I think people will be surprised
to see how much non-white stuff I actually own.
but I think people will be surprised
to see how much non-white stuff I actually own.
And the wicker screen?
Will likely be used to hide my idiot cat's mammoth litterbox.
Seriously, she requires a HUGE Rubbermaid container as a litterbox,
as she pees just like a cow, standing straight up.
as she pees just like a cow, standing straight up.
She doesn't even squat. Stupid cat.
Speaking of bathrooms...
You see this fabulous shelf I had been using in my booth?
Well, I needed something in my new bathroom to hold my toiletries, so voila!
This'll do just fine, methinks.
That's about it for now.
And again, be sure to check back in the days and weeks ahead,
we're making furniture runs all the time these days!
we're making furniture runs all the time these days!
Have a wonderful evening and week ahead!
:-)

ReplyDeleteLMAO about the cat!!!! I'll probably think about that periodically tonight and laugh out loud!! My husband will think I've gone mad!
ReplyDeleteAll the white is looking so dreamy! That ironstone water pitcher on top is to die for....love the shape of it!!
Sounds like you are going to be busy busy busy! Have fun!!

Gorgeous!!! I'm so excited for you. I love the corner cabinet and that mat. Your house is going to look so lovely. The lighting is great there. Ah, I'm swooning already. I am so looking forward to taking this journey with you :)
ReplyDeleteAnne,
ReplyDeleteLove watching you move in piece by piece. The picket fence corner shelf I have will compliment the one you are using in your bath room. Email me a shipping address so I can send it to you as a house warming gift. My two siamese cats have their own bathroom. We finally invested in the best invention ever made -- a self cleaning liter box! I never see it, touch it, and best of all smell it!
Your Friend,
Deborah
You are making it look all warm and cozy! I love having a new house and putting JUST what you want in it! It looks so clean and fresh with all of the white!
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed day and I sure wish I was closer so I could help you, I have a truck:)
Hugs!

Anne, I am a sucker for all white! So I am loving this! Armoires: yes, please. I have one in almost every room.
ReplyDeleteEverything looks beautiful. That shelf does work perfectly! I'm surprised the armoire isn't painted. ;)
ReplyDeleteSo happy for you, a little envious, but very happy!
no need to reply to my comments, I know you are terribly busy!
take care, have fun setting up house!
gail
This is so fun; it is like watching a "before" and "after" unfold, and much better than HGTV! The pieces you have taken over to the House of Twig are perfect and I think you will have a lot of fun setting it all up! The school teacher and Nana in me loves the alphabet rug and so would Maya & Eli - like any toddler worth their salt, they sing the song all of the time!
ReplyDeleteThe cat sounds very entertaining! :)
Love and hugs,
Laurie
Anne:
ReplyDeleteI bet you're just having a ball! Keep the photos coming, girlfriend.

Hi Anne,
ReplyDeleteThis is fun watching you set up your beautiful home.
All the furniture looks like it was made for the house. Just lovely!
Your cat made me laugh.
Good luck with moving in.
Happy week
Hugs
Carolyn
Even though it's not my house, it's so exciting to see things moved in and put in place. It all looks like it was made for that house so far. I had to chuckle about your cat's toileting habits. We had one that when she got older would get into her litter box, wiggle a bit to get in just the right place, squat and then pee on the side or even just outside the box. Yep, she missed the entire box.
ReplyDeleteHi Anne,
ReplyDeleteI tried leaving a comment before but do not know what happened.
It is fun to watch you moving into your house, your furniture is lovely and looks like it was made for the house. Your cat gave me a laugh.
Happy week
Hugs
Carolyn
I have the large version of the alphabet rug by my kitchen sink ...
ReplyDeletegreat minds think alike, either that or we're related!
love the homestead
Wow! I adore your white beadboard, and those folding white bistro chairs are gorgeous! Love your picket fence shelf, too! My hubby made one for me a few years ago out of our old falling down fence :) Enjoy your new home!
ReplyDeleteI love that dark armoire. It must be fun to see things in the new place.
ReplyDeleteLooking good! Can't wait to see more! Are you coming to the blog party? Hope so can't wait to see you again!
ReplyDeleteTheresa
It is so fun to see your new casa fill up with your treasures and really start to become your "home"!! I just put a shelf like your bathroom one in our vendor space, except it's much smaller.
ReplyDelete~michelle~
isn't this fun?! little by little, it is shaping up. i am excited.Bestest,Denise
ReplyDeleteLove your chippy cabinet in its new home! Isn't it the best getting all settled in to your new "nest"?? Have fun!~Hugs, Patti
ReplyDeleteI love how you are moving us in with you! I love everything your are doing of course! I am so excited to see the progress! We will be living here 1 year September 15th and wow has it changed since! Hugs lulu
ReplyDeleteHi Anne. I am loving what you have done so far. That scale is super cool and looks great. Oh, your poor kitty. She does her best, I am sure, but she seems to be a little confused as to how it's supposed to work. They all have their quirks.
ReplyDeletexo,
Anne
Oh Anne I love it!! The beadboard, that vintage scale! The color on the walls! The floors!! SCORE!!!! :)
ReplyDeleteRuth
Oh sweet Anne. I so love it when young couples "feather their nest".
ReplyDeleteXo
Jo
Hi Anne,
ReplyDeleteYour home is starting to look like a home. I love everything you've done so far.
Keep us updated.
hugs
Sissie
i am so excited to see your home come to life. i love that corner cabinet - perfect there. can't wait to see more.
ReplyDeleteStupid cat... you make me grin. That chippy cab looks like it's comfy in the corner! At first glance I thought the rug was a Ouija board ;-)
ReplyDeleteOh we have so many shelves cabinets and armoires in our tiny old house too..you are right space is scarce!!! We installed so many shelves when we moved in!
ReplyDeleteLove the yummies you and your hunny brought over..love the old scales...swoon!!! And yes the chippy corner cabinet..fabulous!!! Glad you kept it!!! It must be hard to decide what to keep and what to sell!! It is perfect for that corner!!
I am soo looking forward to seeing your mix of white and dark furniture for inspiration..I have both too and am always trying not to paint it all white!!! I have been on a black and silver kick too..hmmm!!!
Blessings in your new home!
oh gosh, I'm laughing about Winnie and her bathroom habits, are you sure she's a girl? I had a male cat do that and the walls were a mess! Things are looking great, the corner cabinet is wonderful!!! But you know me, it needs an orange pumpkin,
ReplyDeletelove you bunches,
D
Isn't amazing what little you can put in and it starts to feel like home! That cabinet is perfect in your dining room!
ReplyDeleteJody
I am so excited for you! It is going to be awesome to watch this come together! Ok... the cat pee thing is crazy weird. I can tell you adore the cat! Ha!
ReplyDeleteI have a crazy weiner dog who is digging in the kitchen garbage can as I type!! I knew it wasnt tall enough!! Iam lovin your house!! I hope you will live happily ever after with crazy kitty and Mr Twig!!
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited for you, I know it's stressful moving...but it's also so much fun. A chance to reinvent your home. To take something that was of no consequence in your old house, put it in a new space & suddenly it becomes a focal point. & isn't having a booth or shop to pull from awesome. I always love that when I'm moving things around in my house. It looks lovely & 1 of my favs is...that cute little floor rug! Love it!!!
ReplyDeleteI know how busy you are, but I sure hope I get a chance to see you in TEXAS...if not this time, maybe next!
Smiles & welcome HOME!!!!
Susie
Hi Anne! Oh, this is getting so exciting! How lovely your little dining area looks! Love your white chippy cabinet and all your little pretties inside.
ReplyDeleteYour picket fence shelf is perfect for your bathroom!
Oh, I've got to go to the restroom now after hearing about your silly little kitty! :) Pets can be so funny! :)
Have a great week, Dear One and be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Hmm! The kitty is a real "pisser" shall I say? I had to laugh and laugh over that tidbit!
ReplyDeleteLove the corner cabinet and all that beadboard! Gotta love that!! You are having way too much fun!! Enjoy!!!
Hi Anne, I am so happy that your new home has become a reality. It is so much fun making it the way you want it to look. I am enjoying the pictures and I will stop by to see the progress. Have a great day. Your Missouri Friend.
ReplyDeleteYou are making this house into a home at record speed! You are amazing! BEAUTIFUL! I can not wait to see more!
ReplyDeleteHave a pretty day!
Kristin
I am so anxious to see what you do with this house. It is like a blank canvas waiting to be painted. We have those mats in our store. Right now we have a bunch of Halloween ones. Since I always have a cat too many, what I do with the dreadful cat box is cut a hole in a closet door (mine is in a hallway closet) and put the cat box in there. Works really well until my huge dumb cat trips and knocks the whole box over!
ReplyDeleteTake care, Sue
Each little piece you bring adds so much charm to your new home! I love what you have done with your hutch and those apples look divine! I always look forward to seeing what you will do next!!
ReplyDeleteLisa
Oh, and where did you get that rug??? I love it!
ReplyDeleteAhhh, the essence of home! What treasure.
ReplyDeleteOh my friend, I am in love with what you are doing in your new home. It's just gorgeous. I am so very happy for you.
ReplyDeleteGood thing no one snagged that little fence shelf! It is perfect! & you already moved that lil' chalkboard on me :)
ReplyDeleteThat corner cupboard is enough to make a girl's heart long a little. How gorgeous!!! This is way too fun watching you work your magic!
Everything is looking so pretty!! I know you are so thrilled to be getting set up. Keep up the good work! Love & blessings from NC!
ReplyDelete~*~*LOVE how it all looks in your new home*~*LOL about your cat!!! ~*~*Rachel :)
ReplyDeleteyou are on your way...the place will be just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing, I love your decorating style. Keep the updates coming. Good luck and have fun.
ReplyDeleteJeanette
Anne, I have been following your new endeavor(house) for a while now, and following your blog for a long while...I comment from time to time, but I want you to know I envy part of your life!! the vintage/antique-y part LOL :)
ReplyDeleteThe new cottage is adorable, needs a little TLC but for the most part it is adorable! I hope it doesn't need more work than you think it does (as we found out the hard way, with our older home) it is truly the money pit, and 24 years later it still is not finished and now Hubby is older and I am disabled, the kids are grown and out for the most part, so we do not have helpers really either. The original house was built around 1910, then it burnt down and was rebuilt on the same foundation in 1938 by the 2 brothers...nothing is on center, there was no insulation, the walls were this fiber board crap. They used tongue and groove oak flooring for the BASE floor, (what a waste) the electric was minimal and old glass fuses with only 60 amps of power coming into the house, the meter was inside the enclosed porch, so if no one was home, the meter didn't get read. There is no central heat except a wood stove. (originally it was 2 crappier wood stoves and an OLD kerosene burner. There is an addition my late MIL put on, that has electric baseboard heat. the addition has issues also cause the builder was a wack job! nuff said there. LOL
Anyway, my wish and prayers for you is that you find no hidden surprises along the way.
I viewed your wedding pictures today for the first time...love all of them! love the one on the blog especially, and the one sitting on the rock wall.
I have have some nosey kind of questions if do not mind... please respond by either answering them, or telling me it is none of my business but I am curious.
our "old homestead" is on 4.77 acres in the woods. the front almost 2 acres is cleared but still has many trees most are HUGE some evergreens 50-100' and Maples at least 50', then up behind the barn/garage(falling apart) it is all woods. It cost us 89K in 1986 here in very expensive NJ(can go on the market now for almost 400K especially if we finish everything). so I am curious of the sq. footage of your new home and the buying price.
now this one I hesitate to ask, but It is not meant in any way to be offensive. You guys are a great looking couple, but I get the feeling hubster is older than you. I ask, because my hubster is 19 years older than me. (this is a 2nd marriage for both of us) he has a son, I have a daughter and then we have a son and a daughter together. (now 24 and 23) On Nov. 9th we'll be celebrating our SILVER anniversary.
so you see why I ask. Do you have any children?
Lastly...you are an RT, I am an MRI technologist by profession though now sadly disabled (on the job injury, on top of my knees being shot) ANYWAY...I know what it is like to work F/T in the hospital...my wonder comes in the form of "how do you find the time to also run an antique shop?" and KUDOS to you for being able to do so. In this line, do you ever come across thimbles? especially ones with designs on them, or places? If so would you be willing to give me first dibs and email me? I collect them.
I LOVE that the cottage has bead board, and transom windows....so unique and chic!! I'll be continuing to follow your wonderful story!
Susan
PS...I agree with the person who said the "fence shelf is perfect for your bathroom"
God is sooooo good, isn't He??? Congratulations to you and you Hubbs on your new home. I can't wait to see what you do with this simply amazing little cottage. I LOVE it...
ReplyDeleteWarm blessings,
Spencer
Your kitty comment cracked me up! Peeing like a cow is quite hilarious to imagine....:)

It feels like home already Anne! So simple and charming. :)
ReplyDeleteLove your home, Anne. That corner cabinet has me a bit envious. I'm looking for something just that size for my upstairs hallway studio. It can't be too deep (because we have to walk by it all the time). Wish me luck!
ReplyDeletexo
Claudia
While I just adore your dining room I do agree with you that white on white could become very boring after a while. I know moving is rough. I say I want to move into another house but I forget how much I hate the process of actually moving. lol. Hopefully you'll be settled into your new home soon.
ReplyDeleteYour friend,
Jessica
Looks like you're getting there. How exciting it must be to "re-nest" a home! Have fun :o)
ReplyDeleteYour description of your cat is hilarious!

ReplyDeleteWhat a super sweet dining room...the corner cabinet looks perfect there.
ReplyDeleteHi Anne,
ReplyDeleteHope you are having a good day.. wow, it's all looking very, very good in there! Love your corner cabinet! The wicker screen to hide the kitty box is brilliant~ going to take that idea! I just moved Merlin's food from the kitchen and box from the laundry room down to the basement. I thought you had white pumpkins in that pic.. I looked closer and see that they're white apples! I want a bowl full of white apples now. ;)
xo~ Lara

ReplyDeleteWelcome to the COUNTRY! What a BEAUTIFUL little farm cottage you just bought. CONGRATS!!! We're just above you in Kansas and experienced this very thing a year ago last June. We moved from the city to a beautiful Victorian in a small farming town to a 5 acre farm in the country. We worked 3 months on the inside of the house and that wasn't touching the bathroom kitchen and laundry/back porch/entry. We still have those to do yet! It's been an adventure and it still is an adventure but we're LOVING it. Have fun decorating your beautiful old home...you've got some GREAT BONES to work with and so much character! Maura :)
