I'm continuing my posts on Antique Week in Warrenton
with a return visit to one of my absolute favorite ladies
of the entire show...
the beautiful, talented, generous, wonderful
Christie of Sommerfeld Place.
She's located just within earshot of both
Renck and Zapp Hall, and without fail...
year in, year out...she has some of the best displays
and merchandise to be found anywhere.
I absolutely love her as a person, and as a fellow dealer,
I have the utmost respect for Christie and her amazing skills.
So whattaya think?
Shall we enter Christie's little white cottage of wonder?

I absolutely love her as a person, and as a fellow dealer,

So whattaya think?
Shall we enter Christie's little white cottage of wonder?
And the beautiful lady responsible for all this ethereal loveliness?
There she is!
Last year at the Spring shows...I was there selling as a dealer...
I tried to make a daily run to Christie's amazing cottage.
I shopped and gabbed and just admired her stunning handiwork.
And even though I tried my best, I didn't convince her to start a blog.
Shoot!
Double shoot!
Anyway, once I returned home, I did a feature post on Christie,
and you can find it right here.
When I entered Christie's space a couple of weeks ago,
I was immediately drawn to this gorgeous Madonna on the left...
But I was mindful that we were there to see old friends and snap pics, for the most part.
Money is a wee bit tighter these days, what with the new house and all.
So I resigned myself to only admire The Blessed Mother from afar.
{sigh}
Before I left her cottage, Christie told me to close my eyes
and hold out my hands, and what do you think she did???
She GAVE her to me!
I was speechless and practically in tears.
There's Mr Twig holding her right there...
And here she sits at our new home...
Thank you Christie, you surely blessed this Catholic girl's socks off!
If you find yourself anywhere near Warrenton or Round Top
for the Spring 2011 shows,
please make it a point to visit my friend, Christie.
And tell her I said hello, by all means!
Have a wonderful Wednesday!

ReplyDeleteHOW did I miss this booth? Because I didn't have a chance to move around very much because my precious Hubby was with me & not yet up to speed. Guess I should just be thrilled he was up to going & put Christie on my list for next year. Just outside Zap Hall you said???? I loved her displays. Thanks for sharing & I am so glad she was so sweet to give you that beautiful statue to bless you & your new home. So SORRY I didn't get to see you. I talked to Jan (Polk a Dot Barn) today on the phone & we're talking about me heading down for a visit. Would love to see you if we could work it all out. HUGS!

Anne, I think it's so wonderful you did a whole post on Christie. I was so lucky to have the one-and-only Theresa Cano introduce me to her and her gorgeous booth when I was in Warrenton a year ago. She is the sweetest person and so talented too. I LOVED her booth and really enjoyed hanging out there, looking at all of her pretties, choosing a few things to take back home with me. Thanks so much for all of your photos, I almost feel like I'm there :) p.s. I also met Adrienne of The Flying Bee in Christie's booth, how cool is that?!!
ReplyDeleteAnne, thank you for these pics. This Indiana girl can only dream to one day meet these talented people of Texas. Love every pic, but really ga-ga for the chalkboard with the chalked on dress form. Swoon!

Angelic Accents
Really beautiful items she has. I love the silhouette of the mannequin, I'm wondering if she drew that herself? The Madonna is gorgeous, I collect them myself, and have for years. She has a very pretty face, and looks as though she has "graced" many. The doll in the bed freaks me out every time I see her in her photos! She's got Betty Davis eyes! Marcia
ReplyDeleteShe is so talented! Love her collection! Those framed horse pictures...those are Saddlebreds! I took saddleseat lessons on Saddlebreds last winter. It was SO much fun and something I've wanted to do since I was a little girl (I have a horse and ride western/cowgirl style! :)

Thanks for sharing Christie's pretty displays.
ReplyDeleteWish I was there.
~ Julie
OMGosh Anne.......I was gonna' ask you if you knew the price on that statue..........you are truly blessed! I've been in love with religious icons forever, and just looking at her brought me peace.......may she do the same for you. What an amazing show.....I don't think you could get me out of that booth. First of all, I'd have to look at every detail, and touch everything to feel the history of it, and by that time I'd be so worn out and out of my mind with my pain that I'd have to fall into that bed and sleep for a week. In that bed, I'd have nothing but sweet dreams....don't you think? I'm so happy you got to experience all those goodies, and thank you for sharing them with us all.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Meri
Oh, Anne, that was such a sweet and generous gift from Christie! I'm sure your new home will be much blessed because her kindness will follow her there.
ReplyDeleteHer booth is gorgeous and I think anyone would have a hard time deciding to leave without buying something! The trouble is...I think it would be like potato chips...you'd buy more than one item!
Hugs, Diane
We all want to come to Texas for the Spring show sooooooooo bad! Your photos are fantastic Anne...everything looks AMAZING!!! The Madonna statues are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteBig hugs ~

This looks like the best show ever! Sadly, I live nowhere near Texas, so I'll have to admire by proxy through your blog. This was an especially lovely booth, and you're right, what a lovely person to do such a wonderful thing as to gift you with that beautiful Madonna! Lucky you!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see your home progress.
