Pull up a chair...

Or rather, just sit yourself down.
There's certainly enough chairs for a
small confab of sorts.

I don't wanna talk about grief
or worry or anything heavy today.

I want mindless and brain numbing.

Let's talk Dancing With the Stars!

I have never, ever felt the Derek Hough love,
so I'm pretty meh about Ricki Lake.
I think if J.R. Martinez doesn't win the whole thing,
it'll be a crime.

Although Carson Kressley certainly does bring the fun factor!
Who are your faves?

For those of you going "who?" and "whaaaaa?",
just pop on over to the next blog. I won't be offended.

Let's talk pet therapy.

The past couple of weeks, I've signed on
to volunteer some time each week to pop by
the local SPCA to give the fur babies some TLC.
It's my way of working through the gr....that word I wasn't going to say.

The Mr. tagged along with me on one of these trips,
so I thought you'd enjoy seeing the avowed cat hater in action.

Yeah, this last pic just screams  anti- feline hostility.
Cat hater, my butt.

And just one more thing.

I'm keeping the lid on a happy secret I have to share soon.
It's just a little something, nothing earth shattering,
but something nice I'll be able to
share in a couple or three weeks.

More Warrenton photos coming soon,
wishing you the happiest of weeks!

  2. I've only watched Dancing with the Stars once. Honestly I have so many 'must see' shows that I can't add another for fear of becoming permanently attached to the sofa. But my daughter loves it.

That's quite a cat hater you've got there. Did he bring one home?

I'm anxious to hear your happy news.

  26. Hi Anne,
I love the photos of the kitten and the "cat hater", too cute!! I have missed Dancing with the Stars but I get the updates on who leaves and who stays on the internet. It sounds like I'm missing some good stuff.
Take care and have a lovely night.

  27. Oh, it's good to hear you chatting about little (and feline) topics, Anne. Your mister is a good sport and so in love with that precious kitten.
As far as DWTS, I've been hooked for a few seasons, despite always telling my husband that I'm not going to watch it. Yes, JR deserves to win that mirror ball in a just world. After the show airs, I'm always convinced I should have been a dancer and need to take lessons the next day. :)

  28. Hey Anne,
Love to dish with you about DWTS. JR is my man, too!
Love him, love his passion and the joy he brings to every moment on the dance floor.

When Carson danced the first time to Move Like Jagger, I laughed out loud, it was so much FUN. I don't remember ever enjoying a dance more. Technically it wasn't perfect, but it was sheer entertainment.

As for your Cat Man, the look on his face is priceless, and, how sweet of him to join you at the shelter.

For five years I've volunteered for a national dog breed rescue organization. I help to run an online rescue store, have fostered three dogs and transported a few more. It's the best job I've never been paid for. Most of the dogs are in such bad shape when they come to us and with love and good food and more love they become transformed and transform us in the process.

I'm so happy to see that you are involved with a shelter, it is a great way to heal yourself as you help God's creatures.

  32. Sweet Anne, you are in my thoughts and prayers, and even though I have had little time to blog myself, I wanted to drop a note to you. Love the pics of Mr. Twig; not sure my hubby would ever hold a cat let alone smile while doing it!

We are holed-up in our daughter Erin's basement - sold our house and are waiting for the new little cottage to be built. It is in the same neighborhood as Maya, (Maya's mommy is our other daughter, Sara) so I will get to see lots of that sweety. In the meantime, I get to hang out with her tomorrow.

It is midnight - couldn't sleep - sweet dreams, dear friend!

  37. Hey, I didn`t know Len and Bruno were on your panel too - one wonders how they manage to flit back and forth over a very large ocean (and a couple of small seas!)without looking totally wiped out!!??Anyhoo, thanks for the little clip - I`ve always wanted to see what your prog was like - ours (Strictly Come Dancing) started last week so we`re at the very early stage of who we like/don`t like but here`s a clip(hope it works!) of my favourite two of all time (she`s one of our judges now because they (the BBC)kicked the older lady off and then refuted any allegations of ageism!Enjoy! It`s shmokin!x

  39. Hi Anne,
How gorgeous the photos with the dear little kitty are! And what a good idea to volunteer at the animal shelter. I'm sure those darling furry creatures will repay your kindness with love a thousand-fold.

I have always had beautiful blue eyed Siamese cats, (who have the sweetest natures by the way), since childhood, & they are just like owning a faithful dog. They even choose the family member they love the most & save the extra special cuddles & snuggles for them!
Can you believe they actually play fetch with you?
I can highly recommend them for people who are not too sure about cats, (although I wonder if this sweet baby has already come home with you both!)

Sending hugs & strength your way.

  42. I'm not a Dancing fan, but I am a big fan of kitties and rescue animals. We have a baker's dozen. YAY for Mr. Twig ! I think the people who say they don't like kitties have never been nuzzled by their soft little faces. How can you NOT love that ?! Looking forward to your surprise, Anne !

  43. Ok, I have to say J.R. is definitely a fav! I think he got robbed last week with his jive, maybe it was a little lindy hop, but he sure wowed the audience! Love Carson, his facial expressions when he's dancing are priceless!

I love cats, have four myself, (just call me crazy cat lady)! The little orange cat sure likes Mr.'s ear and the shot of the kitten just melted my heart. It's a good thing I don't live in Texas or she'd be coming home with me!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Cat hater? I don't think so! LOL! I love the shots you got of the kitty nuzzling his ears :O)

  45. I think it looks like he wanted to take the little kitty home! As for DWTS's...I don't have a favorite yet but I think there are some strong contenders this year. Most of them did great Monday...a big change from the first week! Have a wonderful weekend Anne!~

  47. yea for a happy post!
I am loving that last picture, what a beautiful kitten...adopt him/her, as he is already melting Mr.'s heart!

Derek is an AWESOME choreographer...but my fav pro has been and will be Tony Dovaloni...he just seems like a nice, caring guy. the others, as talented as they might be all seem to be hiding a hidden secret or have an agenda...it is just the vibe I get. i do think both of the "houghs" are great choreographers.

    My favs are:
    JR...causes he's bringin' it!

Carson...cause i just love him and his so fun, and the last dance, he got robbed by the judges, I was watching very closely his footwork and holds etc, and did much better than they said.

Chaz...because he stands for all of us Fatties in the world...I was also a huge fan of the sonny& cher show growing up! (although, I think his Mom is over the top especially with the plastic surgery) supposedly she'll be in the audience Monday night.

I do think hope should have gone instead of the blonde girl. (I can't think of her name now)

Be on the look out later next week for something in your mailbox!
    xo,
    Susan

  48. Lurd,
Yes, I'm calling you that again. I disagree, I understand the hero thing but I'm not team JR. For some reason I keep hoping China Phillips will slip during a routine(idid not say that) not sure who I'm really rooting for but I do want to see good things happen for David Arquette, he's had a tough year. Do I know the news??? Hummmmm

  53. The cat pictures and the Mister are enough to make you smile at least for the moment. Love it. I have a cat hater too in our house. The kids want a dog SO bad but he won't allow it, we have a deal that when the cat dies we can get a cat (six months waiting time). Today my grandma bought the little Miss a hamster for her birthday, can you say HEAVEN? She is so in love. It is the right thing, she swears she will be a Vet when she. Grows up.
I also agree with you about the Dancing show - I don't watch it but the JR guy plays on, I think All My Children or did.
Hope you are felling better and can't wait to hear your news.
