This is not a post about shopping,
or about this ridiculous day where consumerism is king.
No, this is a post about love and loss
and a little bit of a broken heart.
Regular readers of this blog know that I have two dogs,
Belle and Havok.
This pretty girl is sweet baby Belle.
My husband already had her when we got married,
and although she is elderly in Husky years ( 10 ), she is
still playful and full of life.
Feeling as though Belle was quite lonely as an "only dog",
I was fortunate enough to contact a lovely couple who
were having to give up their own beloved Husky, Havok...
My favorite photo ever of Mr. Twig giving Havok a bath...
such trust, such love.
We've had Havok approximately two and a half years,
and during that time, we've found him to be a wonderful pup...
loving and loyal, but always very skittish and nervous.
Some might even say high-strung.
Belle immediately let him know who the Alpha dog was ( her, of course ),
and he didn't challenge her dominance.
But still there would be minor scuffles.
Most were minor, but some were not...blood was shed...and almost all of them were started
by the old girl, Belle.
She was basically harmless, as Havok was much younger, bigger,
stronger, still had all his sharp teeth.
Whereas Belle...sweet, often clueless Belle ( who by now is missing quite a few teeth ),
would playfully charge Havok,
and him being the nervous pup he is, would react in defense mode,
several times sending Belle to the vet with a nasty bite.
It all came to an unexpectedly vicious head two days ago,
when one of their fights got out of control,
the Mr. had a near impossible time breaking it up,
and this morning, my sweet old girl Belle is at the vet
having her eye removed.
Still, they had a bond. They were a pack.
The minute my husband rushed Belle to the emergency vet,
Havok went into a panic that she was gone.
{ Havok left, Belle right }
I don't blame Havok, I don't blame Belle.
It's just the nature of the beast, pardon the pun.
Dogs being dogs, and loving them both,
I knew that we couldn't risk this happening again and
something had to be done...they simply could not continue to live together
and this realization has torn my heart in two.
God answered my prayers, in that when I contacted the
wonderful couple who had had to reluctantly surrender Havok several
years ago, they were not only in a position to take him back,
but they had missed him badly, and were quite thrilled
at the prospect of having him back.
This gladdens my heart, as I simply could not have
This gladdens my heart, as I simply could not have
surrendered my baby boy to a shelter, even a no-kill one.
This photo and the one below were taken just today,
as Havok searches intently for Belle and Mr. Twig, whimpering and nervous.
I even took the day off work today to spend extra time with him before
he leaves tomorrow.
And so tomorrow morning he returns to his old family, his old pack.
Tomorrow afternoon my precious, now one-eyed girl returns home.
I'm pretty sure my heart will never be the same,
and anyone who has ever loved a dog understands this.
Goodbye and godspeed, sweet boy...Mama will miss you.
P.S.
Be sure to read the comment below from BeccaRoo...it's about the 14th one down.
she is Havok's original owner and the one welcoming him back home tomorrow!
God is so good. :-)
Belle and Havok are so beautiful! What a traumatic experience. Pets definitely become family. How very fortunate that Havok's first family can take care of him.
ReplyDeleteOh sweetheart I'm so sorry this has happened and I know although your heart is breaking you have done the right thing. Havok will always have a place in your heart so in a sense he won't really leave you altogether.
ReplyDeleteI help to run a rescue for small dogs, I brought another little Shih tzu girl into my family a while ago who we adored. Sadly she took a dislike to one of my older girls and would attack her without warning. This wasn't an attempt at trying to be leader it was instant dislike. I loved Millie so much but for the safety of my others I had to let her go, it broke my heart. To us she was a sweet loving little one. I found her a home through our rescue, she now lives with a lovely couple, their daughter and a fabulous little Shih Tzu boy and is as happy as Larry as the saying goes. She is loved so much and has found her special place. She will always be in my heart and I have photos too.
I wish Belle well with her recovery.
xx
Goodness. We all have our trials and heartaches but you seem to be having lots. Glad you have chosen peace and balance but know you will miss him. <3
ReplyDeleteSaw your title and pic and quick popped in!!!! I totally understand and empathize from the heart and Kudos to the wisdom you have used as the God appointed steward and mama over their lives. Once something pretty BIG happens between two dogs, there is forevermore an "edge" between the two. The balance has been tipped. Know this is SO hard for you. But sometimes the best things we have to do in life are the Hardest! I am a DOG LOVER to the MAX!!!!! *feeling with you and hugging you for your determination to do what's best for BOTH!!!! :-) God had it all worked out. xo
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to read this . . . I hope Belle recovers quickly!
ReplyDeleteSo sad that your family has to go through all this heart break - but you've made the only decision that could be made.
ReplyDeleteOur animals always have a way of breaking our hearts one way or another, sooner or later.
xx
I'm so sorry to hear about Belle. I am so glad the previous owners were able to take Havok back. We have two small dogs. The older female sometimes attacks the younger female. Luckily, there hasn't been any serious harm done.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Lorilee
Well- The tears are running down my face as I write this. One for Belle because of her injuries. I think it is sad and she will miss this "young pup" in her life when she returns home. My heart also aches for you for I know how sad it is to surrender a pet. We had to do that about 3 years ago ourselves and I still feel the pain of doing it.
ReplyDeleteI am so happy that Havok is going back to his original owners. How wonderful is that?!?! And, how many times in a lifetime would that ever happen?
Blessings- My heart is aching for your loss...all the losses~ xo Diana
Bless her heart...I hope Belle recovers quickly with the help of your love.
ReplyDeleteSo fortunate that Havok is going to a home that is ready to welcome him back. Nice that you will know where he is and that he is loved there also.

Oh my Goodness! What a touching post! What Beautiful dogs! So sorry to hear about Belle, hoping she has a quick recovery! Glad to hear Havok's previous owners could take him back. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time and I hope everything turns out okay!
ReplyDeleteI so feel for you, Anne, as I was in a similar situation with a dog we had. I'm glad that Havoc has a good home to go to...that is a relief in itself. And I wish all the best for Belle. I'm glad she is on the mend and hope she adjusts as fast as possible to all the changes around her.
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
They are both beautiful and well loved! I am so sorry that you are SAD:( I can relate because of my Daughter's dogs! BB is perhaps 9 years old (English Bulldog) Munson is about 2 years old, bought as an English Bulldog but kept getting taller... NOT an English Bulldog! By the time they figured that they had been tricked, they loved him and couldn't give him up! We were over there for dinner the night before Thanksgiving and I was looking at BB thinking how much they all loved her, she is way too fat and really lazy! I said ALL this to say that when Munson came along as a puppy, BB was annoyed with his playfulness but now they seem to get along just fine! They love them both but would have to protect one from the other if it came to that JUST LIKE YOU ARE DOING:) BIG HUGS and prayers for healing for Belle's eye and happiness for Havok with the old friends! Praying for you!!!!!
ReplyDeleteoh sweet girl,
ReplyDeleteI saw your fb post late last night ...
I am so thankfull you till have Belle and your caring, MR Twig ...
it will take some time ...
everyone seems they will be better off, and you're blessed with the original owners!
We are so thankful that you contacted us back about Havok! He was my husband’s favorite and we are in a much better position now that we can defiantly take care of him. I too am looking forward to seeing him I take Penelope on walks and there are times I have taking our little Yorkies with us and they poop out so fast and we have to shorten the walks because they have to ride in the stroller with Penelope or I have to carry them back home! I can’t wait to take him for the walks, jogs and actually be able to do the entire rough. He is so welcome to come back home he can visit with SHO the Lab we had too he is still around, just lives at my in laws now they wanted to keep him! Our dogs are like our Children since we only have the one little girl and she loves her pets just as much as we love them! We are very sorry about Bella it’s terrible that this happened; I hope she has a speedy recovery. I know that she may not be the same and every time you look at her you will remember Havok, but she will still be herself and love you just as much as she always has. Dogs they are wonderful and they have such an amazing power over there human masters! He will always remember you both I’m sure of it and he will probably miss Bella much, and he will have a loving home with us just as much as he had with you guys!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing your story. You had a hard decision to make, but you made it with so much love in your heart. I believe that's why the other family was so willing and open to taking the dog back. what a great heart you have. All the best to Belle! To all of you really!
ReplyDeleteOh Anne,
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry!!! I know how hard this must be for you and your husband!! I had two sweet dogs too and they were my babies. They are gone now, but my husband and I still miss them dearly everyday! I am glad that Havok will be going back to his loving home and that Belle will be coming home. I know this will definitely be an adjustment for you and your husband and especially for Belle and Havok but I know God will see you all through!
Take care.
Sincerely,
Melinda
Your babies are beautiful and I can see very muched loved. I hate this so called."Black Friday." What a scam, people are is stupid to fall for this stuff. And it hurts the small guy so bad. And usually the ones doing the shopping are ones that can't afford it. What has ever happened to people, the world and the real meaning of Christmas. Richard from My Old Historic House.
ReplyDeleteYup, no doubt about it, having your kids fight (even the furry ones) just hurts your heart. You know they love each other, you know they don't really WANT to fight, yet there's something in them that can't stop once it's begun.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry sweet Belle had to be hurt. I know you're grateful knowing that it could have ended so much worse. And you're right, the bright side is that Havok isn't ending up in a shelter...going back to his first family is a MUCH better ending for this story.
♥hugs♥
Oh, little Ann, I'm so sorry this happened. I love my little dog and know the heartbreak and sadness you must fell. I know this had to be a hard decision but you've done the right thing. What a blessing the original owners will take him back.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Oh sweetie, I'm so sorry about your troubles, but at least Havok is going to a loving home where he is not a stranger. I know your heart is heavy, but time will heal. Perhaps Havok needs to be with his first family, it is hard to say.
ReplyDeleteThinking of you and praying that God will heal your wounded heart.
Hugs across the miles,
Judy
Oh dear, it seems a bad day for dog tales. I've just heard my best friend had to have her two year old border collie put to sleep because of cancer, and now your sad tale.
ReplyDeleteI hope the eye heals quickly and that knowing Havoc is going back to people who already love him will help heal your sadness. xx
Bless your heart Anne! That brought tears to my eyes. I'm at a loss for words but just hope that your heart aches a bit less knowing your boy will be so loved.
ReplyDeleteWow, just wow! I really have no words, only sympathy for you guys!
ReplyDeleteKat
I'm so sorry Anne. But on the bright side your baby is going back to be with those that will love him.
ReplyDeletehugs

It takes the most loving of hearts to do what is best and accept the pain that we know is coming. Is it a coincidence that Havok's original family is in a place where they can take him back and love him? I think not. We are where we are supposed to be ... and you were there for Havok when he needed you. Bless you, and your sweet husband. You and Belle are in my prayers. I hope all of you have a speedy recovery.
ReplyDeleteOh Anne,
ReplyDeleteMy heart is breaking......no words really can express the mixed emotions I feel for you.....Thank GOD he brought Havok's parents back into your life!!!!! All dogs are pack animals but from what I have read, Huskies are even more wolf like, and therefore their pack mentality is incredible.....maybe that is not true, but it looks like you have verification it might be ......your sweet one eyed Belle will be different looking, but her heart is still yours and your husbands.....please rememeber that! Give Belle a hug for me when she gets home.....and I can just imagine Havoc's joy when he sees his original owners also! He loved you both, but he was not meant to be yours......Hugs, Sandy
OH Anne, I am so sorry, This is not the way to start the Holidays My prayers are with you and Belle, Always remember that you are great people was not going to start crying But as always I seem to do so... hang in there....
ReplyDeleteHugs

Im holding back my tears as I write this Anne~ I am so sorry for Belle and the loss of giving back your little guy~I am so thankful Belle will be ok and she is such a beautiful girl~ HUGS to you my friend~ xoxo Rachel
ReplyDeleteOh Anne, you have had more than your fair share of heartaches in these past few months. So happy to know that your little guy is going to be loved in his form home and wishing darling Belle a speedy recovery. Please give her a big hug and a kiss from me.
ReplyDeleteThinking of you,
Anne xx
he is such a handsome feller .. but then you know that .. love you and so sorry ..
ReplyDeleteI read this with a panicked feeling, I lost one of my dogs a month ago today, and I am heartbroken still. I understand the love of dogs...
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry that this happened, but with a happy ending. I hope your Belle has a full recovery and she is able to get on without her pal. It will be an adjustment to them both...Oh, I know we try to make them our kids, but I guess it is true, they are dogs...
I am glad they both are still ok, and that the original family has taken him back.
Best wishes to all of you, with fur and without :)
Anne ~ I am sooo sorry that you are losing one of your babies, but can you stil visit? I hope Belle's recovery is speedy. We just put my little Mindy down this week. I know the heart break
ReplyDelete((((Hugs)))
Oh my, your post brought tears to my eyes. How fortunate the original owners were willing and able to have their boy back. Wishing Belle a speedy recovery. Hugs and good wishes to you all. Sometimes the right thing is just so damn hard!
ReplyDeleteLosing a beloved pet is absolutely heartbreaking. I'm so glad your Belle will be alright.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear about your dogs. I cried when I read your blog and again when I read it to my husband. We have had Huskies and Malamutes. Now we have a Huskies Mix that we adopted. I'll say a prayer that Havok will be fine , going back to his previous owner , and Belle will heal quickly. And a special prayer for you and Mr Twig.
ReplyDeleteGod Bless, Lynda
so adorable dogs... have a great weekend ps i ahve linked you on my othe rblog xxx
ReplyDeleteOh Dear Anne.....Our dogs are our family.....and when one leaves the whole thing changes. Your sweet Belle will be as good as new (almost) and I'm so glad that Havok can return to his original home....you know....they never forget!!~
ReplyDeleteHugs to you,
Jo
Oh Anne, my heart just aches at the prospect of struggling with such a situation. I'm so sorry that Belle lost her eye, but thankful it wasn't what I first thought by your post title. And, also thankful that Havoc will go to a familiar and loving family.
ReplyDeleteNo doubt there will be big adjustments and heartache for all of you, Belle and Havoc especially. But, it's the right thing. Doing the right thing where our beloved pets are concerned is not always the easiest, but it's where we really show our love for them. Having a house full of rescued babies myself, I know all too well the pain that sometimes accompanies the choice to fill your life with furry babies, but the overwhelming amount of joy that they bring makes it so worth it.
Wishing you hugs and love as you send your beautiful boy off tomorrow. Take comfort in knowing that you can stay in touch and perhaps see him from time to time.
Much Love,
LaurieAnna
Oh, this just breaks my heart, Anne. I am so very sorry - for you, for your hubby, for Bella, and for Havok. It will take some time for everyone to re-adjust, and I pray that the transition will be smooth for you all. I will keep sweet Bella in my prayers for a quick recovery, too. Hugs, sweetie.

Our "furry friends" as we call them at my store where we collect money for a local shelter, mean the world to me. I think there are a lot of have heavy hearts and a few tears in our eyes. There was this old movie along time ago. The song in it was something like "bless the beasts and the children, they have no voice they have no choice". Glad your old girl Bella survived the attack and happy Havoc gets to go back to his old home. Someone is watching out for you ;0)
ReplyDeleteTake care, Sue
Sending you and your furbabies HUGS as I'm a huge dog lover...so sorry about Belle's eye..:(
ReplyDeleteGlad that the owner's will take the boy back home.
Deb
Only dog owners know the heartache in letting one go. I hope you get to visit him from time to time.
ReplyDeleteabby
Oh, so sorry to hear of your loss. Belle will heal and so will your heart , but it takes time. So wonderful he will be going somewhere where he will be loved. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteI sit here sharing the couch with my pregnant belly and my first doggie kiddo, Molly. I completely understand the attachment we get to our 'kiddos', and I will be praying for you and your husband. This sounds like the best possible answer to a very unfortunate day. Take Care, hugs to all of you.
ReplyDeleteAnne I know how hard this is to do. I know I could not risk anything happening to Charlie and you must return Havock but he will always be in your heart. Thinking of you and Belle and Mr Twig. Hugs, Linda
ReplyDeleteanne, i completely understand. you've certainly had your fair share of tough life moments lately. it will all serve a purpose, maybe not immediately known. i am glad to hear that his original family could take him back. i know he will never forget the one you gave him. chin up friend.
ReplyDeletehugs to you and your hubs,
shelley
I'm so sorry to hear of this unfortunate turn of events and Belle's terrible injury. You have made the best decision for both Beloved Fur Babies and I'm glad the story has a happy ending even though I know that the decision was a heart wrenching one. A Dear Friend of mine has two dogs that she loves so much but they just do not get along and there have been numerous serious injuries from their constant fights, as well as astronomical Vet bills... I pray that one day she has the courage you displayed to find a good home for one of her animals before too much harm is done to one.
ReplyDeleteGod Bless... Dawn... The Bohemian
I'm so sorry Anne. I know what a hard day and difficult decision that must have been for you to make. Sending hugs to you all of you.
ReplyDeleteOh, Anne, I'm so very sorry. We do all love our pets, our true babies, soooo very much. Havok will be well loved and cared for (I read his previous owner's post) and Belle will help heal your hurt heart. She will adjust well with only one eye. My little love back in the 90's went blind and lived quite comfortably for 3 more years with very little ever hindering her.
ReplyDeleteRead your story this morning and thought of it at work throughout the day. I know you did the right thing returning the dog, I have had to do the same thing once before for the same kind of reason. Also a different dog of mine had to have a leg removed and did so well. They really adapt well. Hope you have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteSaying a prayer for you and your husband as you go through this difficult time. Glad to hear that Havok is going back to his first home and that Belle will be ok. Blessings.
ReplyDeleteYou've made a sad, but very wise decision. I'm a lover of dogs and know first hand how hard it is to let one go whether by life choices or God's choice. Take heart in knowing you are doing the best you can for both your beloved dogs.
ReplyDeleteDeb
Oh, Anne...my heart breaks for you at the thought of having to give up an animal, not matter the circumstances. ;o(
ReplyDeleteI know the attachment, and it is never easy...but it sounds a bit easier knowing he is going back a familiar place. How rare and awesome that is! Wishing Bella a speedy recovery!
Mary
Anne, I'm so sorry. Nothing more to say that everyone hasn't already said. I know with three of my own and many from the past, it's a hard thing to lose a friend whether animal or human. Big hugs to you and Mr. Twig.
ReplyDeleteAnne...I am sorry to read this post. What a hard decision you had to make. We have a Golden rescue who is such a part of my heart. His family had to let him go and he came to us several years ago.I hope that knowing where he will be will make it a little easier. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Anne. It is amazing to me how entrenched animals become in our hearts.
ReplyDeleteoh, no, Anne ! I'm so sorry ! My Buddy and Dalton have recently been getting into these type of skirmishes and it worries me. I know they can injure themselves in a blink. Like you, they are my babies and I would hate for anything to happen. I am glad that it wasn't worse for Belle, poor dear. Happy also that Hovak still has a loving home. Take care !
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful, wonderful dogs Belle and Havok. You and your husband are such fabulous, caring pet owners. I wish all the best for sweet Belle and Havok.
ReplyDeleteBlessings
I'm sooo sorry this happened, Anne! It just makes me ache for you and Belle. I think you are making the right decision. Thank goodness the original owners can take him back, so the transition will be easier for Havok. Despite what has happened I think Belle will miss Havok. Maybe Havok is doing this because he wants to be the dominant one. Something they just can't help.
ReplyDeletePrayers for Belle's quick healing and yours too...
Hugs and tears to you,
Sonya
You've got me crying again, Anne. Oh goodness gracious - you have certainly been through it the past few months.
ReplyDeleteI certainly understand about your fur babies - I have 3 of my own and they are my girls...my babies...my sweethearts. They fight like crazy sometimes but are always so worried if one of them gets hurt.
Glad that Havok will be able to go back to his other home. He is a beautiful boy. Belle is lucky to have such wonderful parents and she'll be fine.
Hugs,
Marie
First let me say how sorry I am that this happened. Second, I am absolutely in tears, for Belle, for Havok, for you and Mr.Twig, for myself. I am so thankful though that this post isn't worse. A lost eye is bad enough, and sending Havok back is equally as heart breaking, but to have lost one or both of them would be so much worse.
ReplyDeleteIts been 6 months since we had to make the very difficult decision to let our beloved lab Nick go...At 15yrs old he was mostly deaf, blind and could barely get around. When he stopped eating anything we knew he was ready. I think of him every day, cry often and second guess my decision often. I know it was right, just like you know it is the right choice to let your Havok go back to his old family. Its going to hurt, you will probably cry, and Belle will miss him too. But I think you will find that the anxiety of waiting for their next fight to happen or if you will be able to break it up will allow you to really focus on Belle and making sure her later years of life are full, happy, stress free and loving. Our pets are such treasures to our families and saying good bye for any reason is heartbreaking, but we do go on, and we do love again, and in your case you get the jooy of knowing his very loving old family will once again have their boy back.
Hugs and blessings friend,
Oh, girlie, you
ReplyDeleteKNOW my heart
aches for you....
Hugs to you all
as you start the
next chapter.
xx Suzanne
I'm so sorry to hear about the damage to your sweet dog's face. I hope she has a swift recovery. We have 24 Siberians/Alaskans and have had many, many dogs come through our sled dog kennel. I wanted to share a loving tip, for anyone who has dogs battle it out for leadership, or just don't get along. There are no "Alpha dogs". Our dogs know to look to my gentle husband as the leader. I do know of friends who let one dog be "in charge", and set the standards/rules/and even discipline. But it's a slippery slope. I just wanted to share, should you or your dedicated readers have multiple dogs. Harmony with "the pack" is wonderful, and Biblical, when the human is in charge. Blessings to you.
ReplyDeleteSo sad, but at least you can visit and he will be loved! God bless you and comfort you! Patsy from

Oh Anne, My heart breaks for you. I have 3 "real children" and my oldest is estranged from everyone in the family but my son, her and her younger sister (my daughter0 can not seem to make up from a fight that happened over 4 years ago. I have to admit, that the younger one has reached out 3 times and tried just to have her older sister beat her down. My heart has not been whole for years. Then we had 2 male cats, brothers we rescued from mean, and neglectful neighbors. They fought a lot when outside, would come in all the time with fresh bites and scratches. One time, the Alpha brother, slashed a claw right through the center of his brothers one eye. He was blind now in it. But the vet said the eye did not need to be removed, there was ointment I had to put in it daily and the slit healed closed. We had numerous trips to the vet for abscesses, as Cat heal faster on the outside than the inside, so the bite would heal up on the outside, but an infection would rage under the skin. One day "White Face" just never came home, after being out at night. That was sad. But they were born and raised outside, making them Ferrel to begin with. When my son decided he was moving home with his cat and dog. I had to make the heart-breaking decision to put "KitKat" down, as he was FIV +, (Feline HIV) and not neutered and Ferrel. My son's cat was Male, not Ferrel, indoor only and he was neutered. I could not take the chance that he would bite my son's cat, spreading the FIV. KitKat, was now about 10, and considering his beginning year in life, I think we did right by him. They both we loved, and pampered, well fed, had a warm home, when they wanted to be in, treats and toys etc. In the 26 years we have lived in this house we have rescued many "dumpee" animals, as where we are is very secluded, and at the end of Tourist season, there is always at least one animal found roaming around. One year there was a lop eared bunny dumped. We always rescued them, many we kept, the bigger ones we called the police about.
ReplyDeleteWe have lost more than our fair share of fur children over the years, and it NEVER gets any easier.
Please read this post here:

I wish Peace to both Havok and Belle, and hope both heal in turn, and grow to not miss each other so much. I also wish healing for both you and Mr. Twig.
Much love n light,
Susan
This is always a hard decision to make. You always think no one can care for the dog like you yourself do. We ended up having to put down a dog each Easter weekend for the last two years. Strange how that works out, but that is when the time came. And, although trivial next to Easter, the losses still hit harder. It is never easy to surrender a beloved pet. They are family. andrea@townandprairie
ReplyDeleteNow that I've finished crying... I am so happy you are giving Havok the blessing of going to another family, his original family. Many would not have been so kind. Hoping Belle makes a full recovery, not just of her eye, but of her heart as I'm sure she'll miss Havok. Wishing you peace.
ReplyDeleteyou often bring me to tears. this writing was no exception. i share your joys and your sorrows equally. sometimes with smiles, sometimes with tears.
ReplyDeletein fondest of thoughts,
Tilda
I completely understand your love for your animals. I have two English Bull Dog's and all though they are the best of friends they are also the wort of friends at times. I've tried separating then but they just wine for one another. I'm so glad that Havok has a great home to go back to, I'm sure he has been missed.
ReplyDeleteYou have my hopes and prayers for a quick recovery for your sweet girl.
Debbie
I can only imagine how you feel. We love our four legger so much and she is now 13 years old. I can understand how much you love both your babies and I am so sorry you are having to go through this. How blessed that Havok will return to his original home where there is definitely lots of love waiting for him. Praying for you through this tough time...
ReplyDelete*** Anyone who has ever experienced the incredible blessing of the loving relationship between "us" and our dogs, knows, and truly DOES feel, your pain. (Something similar happened to one of our dogs many years ago, & it was heartbreaking to say the least... Altho Sam's injuries were more "aesthetic" than painful & permanent, all ended OK, but we had to adjust our lives a bit... It was sooooo sad... so scarey...
ReplyDeleteThank God you were spared the worse that COULD have happened, altho I know that doesn't make it that much easier to accept.
My heart goes out to you,~~~ sometimes doing "the right thing" hurts sooooobadly, doesn't it?
My heart is with ALL of you...

Oh Anne, I'm sorry to hear about this...it must be so hard for you! Even my little pugs really mix it up sometimes, but it must really be hard to break up a fight between two large dogs. I hope Belle heals quickly and both dogs adjust to the new situation soon! XO
ReplyDeleteWe had an older dog Sugar and we decided to bring in a pup for "when the time came"...it just was never a good thing. Mollie was too playful..Sugar was always annoyed with her. She would just look at me like "Why now"?...I read to bring in a pup with an older dog is like your husband bringing home a girlfriend and telling you that he still really loves you and all but you are getting kind of old and well..you know. Plus it is your responsibility to teach her everything you know...lol...never again for us. p.s. Sugar died peacefully many years ago and mollie is now 12...
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear what's going on. Hoping your girl recoops quickly. Happy to know Havoc will be going to a good family. Hugs to you and the mister...keep smiling!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear of this incident and poor Belle's injury. Havok will probably be very missed but i am sure he will not be short of love. Hugs to you and the mister.
ReplyDeletexox
Oh my goodness, Anne. What a story. I hope Belle recovers quickly and that Havoc transitions easily back to his original owners. Hugs for you and Mr Twig as you go through Belle's surgery and this change.
ReplyDeleteOh Anne, My heart is so sad for what has happened. We love our two pups like they are human members of our family, so I totally understand what you must be feeling. I am so grateful that Havoc's former family is able to take him home and that you'll know he's being loved. Praying for Belle's quick recovery!

Oh, bless you. I will be praying for your heart to heal very quickly.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness what touching story. Dog fights can be quite upsetting, especially when it gets out of control like the one with your dogs. But I have to say, you really handled everything so beautifully. :)
ReplyDeleteoh goodness gracious, this is such a sad but heart warming story...i know how awful dog fights can be, and how scary they can be, we once had two dogs, and now we have one, as we had to find a home for one of them due to agressive behavior and it broke my heart, so I know exactly how you feel. Poor Bella, I am sure she will be ok, sure of it and so happy Havoc found a good home...thanks for sharing Anne, your story instills the goodness of humanity that sometimes i loose faith in! xo
ReplyDeleteOh Anne...what a shame this happened between your two dogs. Poor Belle...I'm sure she'll cope just fine with one eye after a while and I'm sure Havok will settle into his new/old home given some time. I think you made the right decision for both of them. Give your Belle a scratch for me.
