How Can We Miss You...

if you won't go away?

That is what I am certain y'all are saying to yourselves right about now.

Here's the facts...

I'm sick.

Like, coughing, sore-throat, stiff-neck, laryngitis-y sick.

Ugh.

Like light-sensitivity, can't stay upright for more than a few minutes sick.

But as a medical professional, and a card-carrying, charter member of the

~Better Living Through Chemistry Club~

I doped myself up with a veritable, life-giving cornucopia
of healing pharmaceuticals and did one of the few things
that could make me feel alive again...

(and this is gonna sound weird and counter-intuitive to anyone without an artistic, creative bent)

I grabbed my camera and started to create

I snapped a few pics of a favorite ironstone pitcher,
some vintage plates with absolutely delicious crazing,
and with a dash of chippy wood and other assorted background textures to add interest

And then I played

the original image

I tinkered with lighting

and hues

and zoom

and texture

ta-da and the end.

I'm a bit frustrated in that I fear I'm still better
at the photo editing part than the actual picture taking part.

True confession?

I'm still a little scared of my brand new, bad boy, all-the-bells & whistles camera.

I'm still shooting almost exclusively in auto-mode,
as I simply haven't had the time to dig deeper and learn
all I need to know about aperture, shutter speed, f-stop, ISO,
and a whole buncha other terms which are still largely Greek to me.

But there's time.

I just wanna be the best at everything I try to do, like yesterday.

Not a good trait.

so......

back to bed now!

Thanks for letting me come out and play for a bit,
and for indulging my proclivity towards true confessions and stream-of-consciousness rants.

Y'all are the best.

xo  smooches!!!  xo

it's so fun to play with photography! i love all the effects you've employed...
and once you get onto the iso and aperatures of it all you won't be able to stop! trust me

i took photography, pre-digital in highschool...and was hooked for life.
i even had my own darkroom...with chemical trays and everything...

i have to admit that digital is way more fun...less fumy and more carefree...because there's no wasting of film! blah, blah....

great stuff...even on autopilot, you still need good cropping sence...and you've done marvelously!

keep at it and that 'bad boy' will become your soul mate!

Can't wait to see what you create next!

    But first, rest....

    Be will, hon!

  10. You are amazing when you don't feel well! Big smile. I was told by a farmer....to spray Lysol and then breathe in deeply...since it kills every germ, it will kill your sick germs...and you'll get well again....
    OK JUST JOKING!!
I'm sorry you aren't feeling well in your body but your mind is working at full speed and that we are all happy for! It is awful to have all those symptoms. Take care of yourself pharmaceutically!

I will be back to visit again now that I have found you. xoxo

  56. Hi Anne girl...I love it when you play around. your pictures are wonderful! And I think I am totally smitten over that top chippy plate!
Just keep playing and the details will fall into place. I used to do professional photography when I was a wee bit younger and had more ambition (pre garden days) so luckily I know the technical stuff about cameras, but it took me a lot of practice before I would do it as a business.(in the days of film processing) While I loved it, it took so much time away from my then young family, that I only did it for about ten years. Now, I'm just happy to snap a few shots of the grandchildren and pictures for the blog.
I do hope you get over the yucks real soon sweetie. At the risk of sounding like a mother...please get lots of rest.
    hugs
