Here we go again, folks!
You all were lovely and gracious enough to weigh in
on the fantastic house I posted about the other day,
and for that I sincerely thank you!

But as you well know, the journey to a new home rarely ever ends with the first
(or even second) property you fall in love with.
(or even second) property you fall in love with.
So, with that in mind, I present to you yet another fantastic property I have my eye on.
This one is in the same city as the previous house,
but at less than $180K, it's a good $70K less,
which is always a check in the plus column, right?

In some respects, I think I might even like this house better.
Let's have a look, shall we?
Well now, that's pretty, eh?
Here's the listing:
Charming, one of a kind, 1917 home!
This stately 2 story features formal living & dining, kitchen and breakfast area
and large master suite with separate sitting or study area.
Swarovski Crystal chandelier in dining.
Updated roof, water heater, gutters, windows, appliances & kitchen cabinet facings.

Shall we go in? (that's obviously a rhetorical question)
I do believe that chandy has my name all over it!
A ballroom?
Or a dining room?
Heck, who says it can't be both?!
See my Jane grab button over on my sidebar?
She votes for ballroom.

Loving the molding over the door there on the left.
I do think this house compares favorably to the prior one, don't you?
I actually have a couple of blogger buddies that live in the town
these houses are located in, so that's a plus.
these houses are located in, so that's a plus.
On the previous post, I had a few comments that were along the lines of
"Why are you asking us what you should do?"
Why?
Because it's FUN !
Obviously, my husband and I aren't going to make any
life-altering decisions based on blogger comments,
but since you guys have become such a huge part of my life this past year,
it would feel disingenuous to exclude you from this part of my life.

So there!
As soon as I locate our next home contender,
you can count on me posting all about it right here.

After all, I figger a good bunch of y'all will end up being houseguests,

better start the packing ... I'll help
I’LL GO FIRST!!! This one looks just as awesome as #1 and the price is a big factor...totally!! Think of monthy payments, taxes etc. The fact that you have buds in the hood really helps, take it from me....This is a wonderful choice. Go For It!!
Im loving this one Anne so sweet.Lots of windows bigger rooms looks that way to me anyway.I also love the way the windows are.Shutters are tooo cute.Anyway thats my 2 cents worth ha.Take care!
I like looking at these houses with you and this one looks like a steal. My house is much smaller and costs about the same but doesn't have as much character. You'll need to invest quite a bit in paint (in my opinion) but it's a great house. (all of the updated stuff is great too.)
Oh this one is a winner...too! I'm of no help becuase they are both gorgeous!!!!
OMG Anne I think I love this one best! You are so lucky to live close to so much character. How do you choose, and I think it is so awesome you are asking our thoughts on things. That is what we are here for too...Miss ya, finally have a second to sit at my computer and catch up with everyone. LOVE LOVE THIS HOUSE! my favorite! ~lulu
Oh, my! This one has just stolen my heart, Anne! I want to live in it! 180????? YIKES! Move in today! It has so much charm...the rooms are beautiful...love all the windows. And the chandelier? Are you kidding me with all the Swarovski crystals?!?!?! (just about my favorite thing on the planet!) Thanks for letting us take a peek!
Julie
Hi Anne:
I don't really like the back elevation of the first house, although I loved everything else about it. The decks just didn't seem like they went with the rest of the "look" of a historical house. I like this one, too, but don't know what the back looks like. Yard is always important to me. There's my 3¢ worth! lol
xoxo

I like both. Number two's kitchen is nicer. Kitchen remodels are pricey. The important thing for me and remember my old house is pre-Civil War is that it is in good shape. Our old house, sadly, is a money pit. You do not want one of those. You could do a lot with either house. The price of the second is very good. Exciting times Anne!
xo,

I like this one better... and MY opinion DOES matter ;o
I vote for the ballroom!
OK - you had me at Svarski chrystals! I say at that price & size - you can't afford not to buy it! It's a stunning house that you'd make into a beautiful home!!
That is a GREAT house at a great price - the kitchen is even live-able!
Hi Anne,
What a great old house...beautiful big, old windows and french doors, high ceilings, wood floors, gorgeous trim molding throughout!! A little (OK, maybe a lot) TLC and she could be a gem.
I checked out the other house you posted about, and it's beautiful, too. There are certain things I like better about both houses. You've got a hard choice to make. You're lucky to have these beautiful old homes to choose from, though. :)
Thanks so much for your visit and your sweet comment about my kitchen!
I hope you're having a fabulous week!
~ Jo :)
I love it - and am once again jealous of those house prices! I think this one is quainter and the other one is more grand. Love them both - you couldn't go wrong with either. Good luck! Can't wait to see which one you choose.
I'm in love with this one. It looks ready for the move in!! Love that front porch!
xoxo
Janie
I LOVE THIS HOUSE... I REALLY DO!
this one is very reasonable and the kitchen could be really great since it's a blank state with the white! you are so lucky all these great places to pick from. whatever you decide i'm sure it'll be fabulous when you are done with it! it is fun to look with you :) thanks! susan
It is very pretty, but I have one question? Is this house near Warrenton? If so, please put my name down in your reservation book ASAP. Gosh Anne, please don't keep us in suspense too much longer... I'll try to wait patiently until you share more.
LOVE this one, too! and your right we'll all be down there at your new B&B. I'm good at painting and wallpapering, remember? I think I need to move down there. House prices are crazy good compared to here!
love ya,
Debra
First of all I love you are sharing this adventure with us and asking our opinion. I think its fun and Anne you are a fabulous fun gal!! OK, now I love this house! It seems more homey to me Grand yet livable. The other house is gorgeous and if you choose that it won't be a mistake but I am really loving the 2nd house so far. I like the remodeled kitchen and the feel of the house and the front has great curb appeal not to mention the price! That's my whole nickles worth...can't wait to see more!!
This is the winner!! this house is better i think !!....eh..is their a guest room.........?? than i can come over and look at the house..............i can help you choose !! hahahhahahhah!!! hugs baby hugs from me.....
How great of you to share this exciting experience with you. I love looking at houses. I have to admit I have not been here for awhile, so I had to go view previous posts.
This house is definitely a contender and for the price point it is going to be hard to beat??? However, once you do your walk through of the properties, you will know what you like :)
Good luck and thanks for sharing.
I could help you more if you move closer to me:) I love this one too! Price is much better and blogger friends in the same town! Yes! Have a blessed day my friend! HUGS!
Anne,
OK that does it!!! I'm moving to your town....Fredericksburg right? I'm on my way girlfriend. If you don't take it ~ we will...
I'm such a big talker...but seriously...I love that house sooooo much! It would be so fabulous for you!
I can't believe how inexpensive the real estate is compared to the NW. That house would be 400k or more up here ~ or more.
How fun!
xo,
Shellagh
ok...that last sentence didn't make sense....ooops my excitedness got the best of me ;)
Okay, I need to move to your neck of the woods! I can't believe the beautiful houses you can find for such great prices. In New York where I live - that amount of money wouldn't buy much at all.
That being said - I think I like this one even more than the last. Just gorgeous - and the kitchen looks great, too. I bet you're having fun looking at all these listings!
xo
Claudia
WOW is all I can say. I am partial to the kitchen in house number two. The price is great too. Hubby and I have been looking for a decent home under 325K for several months now in the area of his new job. Nothing but depressing!! We love our current property with all that we could ask for, and cannot even come close to something we like elsewhere, yet. Happy house hunting! Keep us all posted and thank you so much for sharing!
I just can't get over the prices of these gorgeous homes! It's not fair! In the NY metro area this home would be....oh well. sigh. I'm moving to Texas.
Oh...back to you says my selfish, self absorbed self. It's an awesome home! Love them both...for those prices...take two!
:)
i like this home much better...i loved the front of house #1 and the gorgeous windows...but, from the back not so much...it looked like two different houses made into one...this home is more harmonious throughout...if that makes any sense...
Ok, Im a little late to the party, and I think both houses are amazing, and they are both huge deals compared to housing here. Apparently, Montana hasn't gotten the recession memo in the housing department. That aside, I say, at this point, that you go for this house and use the savings (or a reasonable portion of it) to throw a party in the ballroom!
PLEASE STOP! You are making me sooo jealous! You can SO much house for your money where you live!! :)
And you cut me to the heart when you said you and the hubs are actually NOT going to make a major life decision based on our comments! Ouch! I'm wounded for life! HAHAHAA!!!!
This is just so much fun for those of us who WISH we were really house-hunting, but aren't. So bring it on, Anne! Loving looking with you --if only online!! :)
Ruth
Somehow I missed the first post!! I didn't realize you were moving. Too bad you can't relocate to Ohio, we could get into a lot of junkin' trouble together!!
I think I am partial to house number two! Lots of character and a nicely updated kitchen!!
Have fun searching! I think househunting is a total blast!!!
Ooh, I'd love to get my hands on this one!! Such wonderful rooms.
Wow, that house would be worth close to a million dollars here. You get my vote on that one. Once you put your touch on it, it would be worth a million!
Both houses are gorgeous! What a big decision!
Do you think you will keep the colors or paint?
Ohhhhhhh, I'm at least drooling. This is beautiful. I think I like this one better. Prices in Texas are amazing. Difficult decisions for sure.
Lovely house, the cheaper price is fantastic and the look is wonderful. The rooms look nice, still like the first one best, I think it was all the porches.
Hope you are having fun house hunting and deciding on the next stage of your lives.
Both houses are FABULOUS but the kitchen in #2 put it over the top for me, and I don't even like to cook! HaHa!
This one is pretty good too! Can't wait to see the next one!
Jody
Ballroom INDEEDA! AND PAINT!!!!!!!!!! YIKES the aqua scares me! But, it is an adorable house. Keep us posted! Charlene
Okay, here I sit at my computer in my small office in my over priced little house in SoCal! If you keep posting these pictures, I may have to think about moving myself. Pure torture for me, but I have to say, I LOVE looking at all the houses. How fun for you!
Take care, Sue
Anne,,,,,
What is that Siding? It looks a bit like asbestos,,,which, if you leave it alone, is fine. BUT if you ever want to remove it, truly,,,You have to have a HAZ MAT suit and get tons of permits & inspections.
Of course it may not be,,,,,,but looks a lot like material I've seen used on homes HERE in the Historical district! Just be careful.........
I hope it isn't!
(Built the same year as my little Bungalow!) Otherwise, I love it!!
Hugs,
Shell
Covet, covet.
Waiting for the third installment.

White Spray Paint
I've been away from my computer for the weekend so I will have to go back for the 1st installment but you had me at the outdoor picture of this one. And for less than 180K...or you kidding me!
This is like an episode of House Hunters and right now I'm saying buy this one!!
Jane
I'd definitely go for this one! It's beautiful . . .
I really like this one also. IT is fun going on the journey with you. I will probably never go house looking again, so it is nice to see what is out there. Have fun!!!
Debby
Ohhhhhh, this is my -fave- Anne! I love it! And just think of what you can do with some of that saved money!
Love this fun adventure!
Hugs,
Sheila
I think this one will be a gem with a little TLC. Whatever home you choose will end up being spectacular. With your creativity and talent it has to.
xo, Sherry
I absolutely love this house! I will have to check out house #1 since I missed that post, but I have a hard time thinking it can outdo this one. Great find, good luck!
yes,of course it is fun for us to give our opinions. after all, the two of you will be the ones that will decide and it is fun to come along for the ride. yes,i love the lines of this house. if only the walls could talk. let the house talk to you. because which ever you choose, it will have to say HOME! Bestest,Denise i like coming along and imaging myself in one of them.
Both homes are gorgeous. It comes down to price and practicality. Good luck with your decision! What fun. :)
What great houses you are considering. TX has such a great market right now on homes ~ hope you find EXACTLY what you are dreaming of.
Big TX Hugs,

Oh Anne what a gorgeous home!!! Love it to pieces! And might I say what an amazing price!!! Real Estate is Aus is sooo expensive... for a home like that here you would be looking at the million $ mark.... and we just dont beautiful historical architecture like that... sigh.... I absolutely love it! Good luck with your decision making... but isn't looking at new properties soo exciting! Looking forward to seeing what other gems you find...
Love Lou xx
Hi Anne,
I am happy to say that I could read this post in English, I really do not know why the last two times I visited, it needed to translate for me! Spooky~
I love both the houses you are looking at - they are so grand and so reasonably priced.
I really hope that you find your dream house and I am sure that you will be very happy here, especially having a couple of bloggie buddies... imagine the fun you would have.
Hugs
Carolyn
oooo this is so fun! I like this house... nice character and she even has a pretty little red petticoat under her pretty gray dress with white lace. I always imagine houses as ladies. And at 1917.... maybe it's haunted! HOW EXCITING!!!! weeeeeeee
Another GORGEOUS house...you sure have great houses around there!
I've been missing out on all the fun. I must say, that first house is magnificent. The colors and style are perfect gorgeous, but seems so big! Unless you were gonna start a B&B or have your business there. I prefer small and comfortable. This house looks great, but definitely needs lots of painting on the inside. Does have some character. Sure is fun looking, though, so I say keep to the hunt. Best wishes, Tammy
Hello Sweet Anne! It has been awhile since I have been blogging and how wonderful to come back and see the lovely pictures of homes you have been searching out! I am partial to this one here. hugs to you,Kim
Oooh!!! I think I might like this house even better than the other one!! Love the colors- that is a fantastic aqua in that one room!! How ever are you going to choose?! :)
I just went over to check the first house again, so my comment would be "informed." I for one like this one better. It is less stately, but more "accommodating" when it comes to a friendly look to it. Something more welcoming, I guess I'm trying to say. Oh, I can only imagine the gardens! (I get to help with that, don't I?)
Brenda
I loved the front of the first house the porch, blue room etc. The back looked a little plain though This one has a wonderful kitchen, love those ceilings too. I like the room with what looks like brick walls and the tile floor would make a great office, studio reading room.
Dear Anne,--oh my, this is a castle,-realy, and the rooms so beautifull looking, the house front is almost like seing :Gone with wind--
the pink room gorgeus, can only say :I love it all.
Hugs to you,
Dorthe
What's not to love about this home! I LOVE IT!!!!
Have a pretty day!
Kristin
How come I can't find any houses like that where I live? This is by far my favorite house!
Keep us posted!
xo,
Adrienne
Just gorgeous! I love this home, I think it has so much character and that roofline - divine. So enjoying your quest for your new home - it's almost as much fun as looking for one for myself! K xx
WHERE'S your checkbook, sugar?! Awesome, gorgeous, stately ... your new home!
Happy Father's Day to your hubs.
TTFN ~ Hugs, Marydon
Ok I am with you buy I like them both. But this is really more me. I'll take this one and you can get the first ;)
I am glad you asked!!
Hugs, Lisa
Hey lovely girl! Since HGTV's House Hunters always narrows it down to THREE final contenders, I'm looking forward to the next candidate, too. Although, the first two have both had major great points. In this economy, I'm probably inclined to the less expensive house with the white kitchen, but, there is a lot to be said to the way a house FEELS when you step inside, and we just won't get that from a picture. I know that you will both KNOW when it feels like HOME. xx Suzanne
LOVE them both! But anything older than 50 years gets me all twitterpated! "so much scope for the imagination" as the *the other* anne would say:)
Rene
You might just have a winner here Anne ~ very inviting with GREAT curb appeal!!
I love, love, love this house,,,such character.
Good luck!
Marcie
Another great choice! Love the floors, the wall of windows, and the bay windows. Looking for a new abode can be fun. Enjoy! ~ Sarah
tough! but, i like the energy of the first house better! besides, you "absolutely, positively cannot dance"! btw, i can't either...i always try to lead. uh, i think that might be a control issue!
Ok, so we so so need to move out of Calif. and to Texas, not only do you have the best barn -flea market events, but that home 180- (What)!!!! You cant imagine what that would go for here, at least 800,000 and the one you just found, with a bit of drama, I LOVE IT... the outdoor barn units.. You could have a shoppe or your own barn events like the boys do up in Wa... How COol- love it. Ill Cross my fingers for you.
