ST. THERESA OF ZAPP

Behold, the genius...

....that is Theresa Cano of Garden Antqs Vintage...

With all due respect to all my uber talented friends showing at Warrenton and Round Top this week, I think we can all agree that there are few out there as talented and as genuinely kind as the wonderful Theresa.

(just before the magic happens!)

She is a tireless workhorse during the week, playing vendor, party planner, hostess, design and display genius, and just all-around good friend to anyone who is fortunate enough to step inside her tent and make her acquaintance. It matters not how busy she might be, Ms. Cano always makes you feel like you're the only one there at the moment. And it's 100% genuine, there's not a lick of artifice about this gracious lady.

I told her last week that I was going to title this post "St. Theresa of Zapp", and although it sounds a bit tongue-in-cheek, I'm not exaggerating in the slightest when I express just how dear this woman is to me. She has served as a cheerleader, a motivator, an inspiration, and my fairy blogmother. And I know many of you feel the same.

Behold the genius, of my friend Sweet T....

Bravo, and well done, my friend!

Warrenton...the Sweet Pea Collection

You guys wanted pics, you guys are getting pics!
Not all at once, but I will be attempting to group them in some semblance of order, so here are a few shots (just a few!) I grabbed while visiting with the gracious and oh-so-talented Gloria of The Sweet Pea Collection.

For those who don't know, Gloria is the creator of some of the most luscious and dreamy bedding found anywhere as well as being the woman behind the cutting-edge, concept antique mall Winnie and Tulula's.

Thanks to Gloria for allowing me to photograph her gorgeous space in Warrenton!

The stunning linens Gloria is renowned for.

Book pages artfully adorn a white tree...
Anthropologie wishes their displays were this creative!

Be sure to visit Gloria, both in her lovely space at Warrenton, and at her shop in
Athens, Texas

Just a Tease...

I'm baaa-aaack!

From my week long adventure at
Antique Week in Warrenton / Round Top, that is!
It'll be a couple of days before I get unpacked and back to the groove of my "real" life, but I just wanted to whet your appetite for what's ahead. Just a few of the several hundred images I shot while in Paradise...don't forget to click to enlarge!

I'll be posting more pics later in the week, so please be virtuous and remember that patience is a virtue.

Paris Flea Market Giveaway winner will be announced on the 31st...see you then!

And just a reminder, be sure to pop on over to see Effie, the Texas Junque Slinger herself, in Bar W Field, still lots of fab junk left to drool over!

XO,
Anne

Going....Going....GONE!

This time tomorrow, I'll be rolling up to Bar W Field for the experience of a lifetime!
I made the tough decision to leave the laptop at home during my week spent selling in Warrenton.
Never fear, I DO plan on taking my camera, and I'll happily share all the big show photos with y'all once I return.

But I decided that my REAL reason for tagging along with Effie and learning the ropes of being a big-shot vendor at a big-time show was NOT to sit there and blog about it.....nope, my objective is to get down and dirty, to learn how to load and unload 72 feet worth of awesome junk from Effie's trailers (packed to the rafters, I kid you not!), to learn how to set up a tent, how to deal with selling under adverse conditions (rain, anyone?), how to haggle with pickers trying to grab my awesome junk for a steal.  ;-)

THAT is why I'm going to Warrenton.
Blogging will come later, make no mistake about that. But to immerse myself in the whole experience, I actually need to be present and not lost somewhere in cyberspace.

Make sense?

Which brings me back to the photos.
Yes, I'm taking my camera and a memory card which will hold close to 5,000 images.
But this year will be quite different than last Fall for me...for the Fall show, I was there as a shopper and had all the time in the world to make the rounds and snap pics to my heart's desire.

But as a vendor...well, I've had other vendors tell me that they generally don't get away from their space all that much to shop or to visit or to oooh and aaah over everyone elses spaces, so I guess we shall see!

Effie has assured me that I'll be able to come and go at will, but I really do feel a sense of responsibility to be there for her as much as possible.

After all, I feel like she's given me an incredible opportunity here, a chance to learn things I never would have had the chance to learn any other way....sorta like running away and joining the carnival and having a really cool, bad-ass carny to teach ya the ropes.  ;-)

So to summarize:

  • I'm leaving bright and early Tuesday morning for Warrenton.
  • I won't be blogging or checking my e-mail for at least a week. It'll be tough, but I'll survive. ;-)
  • I'll be selling and working my little heart out in Bar W Field alongside Effie. Yippee!!!
  • I'll be shopping and photographing as time allows.Especially shopping!
  • I will DEFINITELY be at the blog party! Just try and keep me away!
  • I'll be headed back home either Monday the 29th or Tuesday the 30th.
  • I'll be drawing the winner of my Paris Flea Market Giveaway on the 31st!
  • I'll be moving into my new downstairs booth between April 1st-April 3rd.
Any questions?
Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

See ya on the other side, and to all those attending, hope to meet you there!

A Perfect Marriage...

That's what you're looking at right here....

So I already had this awesome lamp base, procured at the legendary Hoarders Estate Sale.
Sorta Roman, sorta Grecian, sorta wonderful.

But it needed a mate.
And you know how hard it is to find the right mate these days, dontcha?
And not just any mate would do, nope. These gals weren't gonna settle for Mr. Right Now, they were holdin' out for Mr. Right.

Habitat for Humanity Re-Store to the rescue!
I spied with my little eye a lonely lamp perched high upon a shelf, and I instantly knew that I had found the perfect shade!

Mr. Twig re-wired this little beauty for me the other day, so not only is it beautiful, it's also safe and fully functional.

Available in mine and Effie's space in Bar W Field during Antique Week!

What Dreams are Made of....

Although the chilly days of Winter have transitioned into the warmness of Spring here in Texas, I discovered something I simply had to have in my friend Donna's ETSY SHOP...

It's a gorgeous, hand-knit cowl by the ridiculously, insanely talented Donna of Brynwood Needleworks.
And I am beyond convinced that dreams are made of precisely the same yarn that Donna used to create this creamy, dreamy masterpiece!

In fact, I'm not the only one....Donna has sold the design of this glorious creation to the worldwide leaders in the fiber arts,  Pagewood Farm! Way to go, Donna!

Here was my first peek at the beauty within...

LOVE the tag, Donna!

You know you want one too, right?
I mean, how could you not?
You can get your very own right  HERE.

Here's a look at some of Donna's other dreamy creations, all available via her Etsy Shop...

The problem isn't deciding whether to buy, it's narrowing it down! So much beauty, and so much talent in one gal's fingertips!

I'm off now to do some more Warrenton prep...the days are slipping away, and I didn't get anything at all Warrenton-related done today, as I had to work a 12 hour shift at the hospital. I'm a Respiratory Therapist, employed full-time, for all those new folks reading that might not know. Same gig tomorrow, so it's really gonna be crunch time come Monday!

I load up the Beverly Hillbillies truck Tuesday morning, minus Granny, and head to the Promised Land (aka Warrenton), to help Effie get set up in Bar W Field.

*** On a personal note, if I haven't been able to make the blog rounds lately, please accept my apologies and know that I am reading each and every comment, and I appreciate y'all more than you know! Once I return from Warrenton AND get moved into my downstairs booth (AND get the Etsy shop re-opened and re-stocked with new treasures!) I'll be able to catch up with all of you again. I miss y'all! I hate feeling isolated in my little Fiona and Twig bubble here, I think you folks are waaaaaay more interesting than me, so I look forward to getting caught up on my blog reading!

Paying all of you visits and leaving you comments is never a chore or an obligation for me, it is a pleasure. It just pains me when I think that perhaps I've hurt someone or made them feel slighted due to the serious time constraints I've been under these past couple of weeks.

/cry-baby rant ***

Have a wonderful night and a blessed Sunday!
