Pocket Full of Heirlooms

I've discovered in recent months
that I don't blog often enough
"just because."

It's usually to announce a new photography project
or magazine feature, and I've missed
sharing little moments and treasures
just because.

I have something delightfully enchanting to
share today, the handiwork of a most remarkable
artist, Brandy Evans-Beadle of

I met Brandy at the Junk Salvation show
I photographed for Romantic Country Magazine,
but it was through her intoxicating Etsy Shop
that I truly fell in love with Brandy's work.

Meet Oscar.

Oscar is but a wee little taxidermy feeder mouse,
clutching a bouquet of blooms.

And he is one of Brandy's irresistible creations, now
perching expectantly on my mantle.
Doesn't he look right at home?

Brandy is an antique dealer,
designs fabulous mixed media, vintage inspired jewelry,
whimsical taxidermy critters, and just generally whips up
magic in her studio.
Just your basic creative genius.

Oscar has found an attentive and loving family
here at the Twig household, but won't you give Brandy's
other adoptables a look-see?

Perhaps one of them would be right at home
in your home.

:-)

Happy Week!

How cute! I would love to have one it would be so funny if someone came over and admired my flowers only to be shocked that there is a real (dead) mouse in there holding flowers.

Oh gosh, I didn't even notice little Oscar amongst the flowers until you pointed him out. He's like one of Cinderella's little chums. :)
Anne, I've been meaning to congratulate you on the Romantics feature in RH. I subscribe to RH and was so excited to see your article - the Romantics is my favorite feature every year!

Ann I am so mixed on this piece. I fell head over heels for it at first and then I re read and saw that it is a real mouse. I think that would freak my boys out but I am still thinking he is super cool! Thanx for sharing him at THT!

Mice sure are cute when they are holding bouquets. If only they always came bearing such niceties.

What a great little treasure you found through Brandy's site!

Hello Anne,

This morning I found you via Pinterest. And then again via the black rooster cottage!
Thought that this time I should at least leave a comment.
To find that you live in Texas!
And we are planning to take a trip to Texas!

Well just wanted to let you know that I think your Oscar is very cute, but I could not handle a piece like that in my home. lol.
I would constantly feel like he is "real".

Till soon!

Sandy
