Kitchen Pretties

In keeping with the theme of the latest issue
of Romantic Homes magazine
( page after page of AMAZING kitchens )
I thought I'd share some of my kitchen pretties...
some old, some new, all dear to my heart.

My new hometown has some truly wonderful
thrift stores, I've scored some of the loveliest
china pieces these past few weeks.

Is that those rose china cup not divine?
A whole set, thrifted for a song.

 And my darling tea towel,
purchased from my sweet friend

{ ahem...this white basin is NOT a urinal. If I had a dime for every person who has asked me if this is a urinal.  This is a lavabo. }

lavabo: a device used to provide water for the washing of hands.
In ecclesiastical usage it refers to both the basin in which the priest washes his hands and the ritual that surrounds this action in the Eucharist. In secular usage, it refers to a sink for washing hands.

Oddly enough, I was never a blue and white girl
until we moved here. The lovely existing kitchen tiles
sort of dictated the decor, and happily so.

One of these days,
I might actually get another room pulled together
and photo worthy, but for now....
get ready for more kitchen pics in the days ahead!

XO,

Very pretty Anne ... I wish I could move right in!
My kitchen has been getting ready for it's "close-up" for about ... hmmm.... 6 years now!!
And thank you for the great idea ~ using a metal basket as a drainer ... yeah, I'm sooo doing that!

Oh Anne Sweetie...
Love the dishes and your kitchen is so serene. The blue just takes you away to a happy place, does it not? LOVE it.

I have to know what the funnel looking thing is on your wall, the one you have towels folded in it. It appears to have a funnel, enamelware or tin? Love it. So darn cute.

I also love the use of the gym basket with your dishes stored inside. I haven't decided what to put in mine yet, I know it is in my mind, I just have to find it.

Thank you for the beautiful share sweetie. As always I so enjoyed my visit here. Have a glorious weekend. It's coming. Many hugs and much love from Phoenix, Sherry

Hi Anne,
I love your kitchen AND your new vintage china! It was a matter of being at the right place at the right time and you sure hit it right. I also love that tea towel and will check out your friends Etsy for sure. I hope you're not melting down there...we finally got rain last night...a storm dropped 3/4 of an inch of rain on us! Now we've got crazy humidity. At least the gardens and lawns and tree's are happy for the time being and I don't have to water 2 and 3 times a day! Stay cool...

I love all your thrift store finds! My sister and I furnished nearly all of her outdoor vintage wedding with thrift store finds. China, silver, crystals, vintage decorations, etc. It was so beautiful! I am glad that we can still find treasures at a thrifty price! LOVE your sweet home and your photos!

In my 53 years, I Never heard of lavabo until this week & this is the 2nd blog I've seen that has one. You're starting a trend.

Your dishware reminds me of several pieces that belonged to my great grandmother & great aunt, which I will pull out of my china cabinet and display better, starting next spring (wrong colors for what I'm doing in the fall & winter). Thanks for the lovely ideas which sparked my imagination.

anne it's all just so beautiful! but those peaches on the counter...wow. i stared at them a good 20 minutes. do you have any idea how precious those are??? a real peach not in a can??? manna from heaven.
one of the first calls home from my daughter when she went down to college (in the "lower 48") was to tell me "mom, i saw apples on a TREE!" poor alaskan kids.
happy summer anne! you make my days!
