Monday, Monday

Well, Hello Monday...
Where did the weekend go? Come back, please.

How was yours?
Mine was busy, as my mind was a whirlwind of ideas,
concerns, what if's, lists of things to be done, longer lists
of things which remain undone...

You get the idea.
But it's a new week, and with it comes a new start!

I'll continue transferring this internal dialogue to the blogosphere
as I share beautiful images from
Carol Hicks Bolton Antiquites,
now open for business in Fredericksburg, Texas.

Did I mention that my husband totaled his car?
Well, he did.
He hit a monster deer last week, and his sad little
Pontiac Vibe went to the great scrapyard in the sky.

It served him well, as she logged over 238,000 miles, though.

Which means he we get a new car, wheeeeee!!!

Thank the good Lord above we've finally sold
our old house and are due to close in a couple of weeks.
No more double mortgages, thank you God
that we can afford another car payment now.

Personally, I don't care what kind of car
the Mister gets to replace the old one, just so long
as he gets a deer or brush guard put on it.

His death tally already includes several deer, a buzzard,
and an already dead feral hog
lying in the middle of the road { seriously! },
so methinks that would be an essential accessory, no?

Just a quick pause to ask,
don't you think these images are positively yummy?
Nothing to do with me, it's all the Hicks-Bolton magic.
Anyhoo....

Sometimes, like this morning,
I stop and give thanks for all
the incredible friends I have acquired
through this blogging adventure.

A wonderful morning phone call with a sweet photographer friend,
some text messages with a long distance friend and mentor,
planned visits with Carol and Co. later in the week...

All precious individuals I met through and because of
this blog. It's during those moments of weariness and
dryness in my blogging that I resolve to soldier on,
because as time consuming and difficult as it can be
at times to churn out regular blog content,
it is more than worth it, because of these amazing
contacts and friendships I have made through it.

Today is the day I begin getting all of our tax info
in order, oh joy....I think I hear my camera calling me,
beckoning me on a diversionary field trip, instead.
Ugh, I think I'd rather have a root canal than do taxes!

And how sweet is this, I ask you?
The genius of Carol Hicks Bolton.
I just hope some of it rubs off on me.

And you?
What does your week hold in store?

Have a beautiful one!

Sorry to hear about your husbands accident but congrats on your new car:) I remember the first day I got my convertible. My husband took a friend for a ride in it (cause that's what guys do) and he hit a turkey. Brand new car = turkey dent. With my second convertable he drove he pulled into a parking space hitting the cement curb on the first day of having it. I looked at him, laughed and said "seriously????". He then preceded to put it into gear and again hit the cement.lol I may or may not let him drive my next new car if I dare get one:) Love your new photos you are sharing today. Always a delight:)

I love a Monday, Anne! It gives me a freshness to start a new week and let the past one go with all its unclaimed baggage.

I am sorry about the hubby's car but glad that it happened when it did-so that your old house is not an burden that you are chained to..and a new car will be a bright start for Valentine's Day!

I love all those pictures but especially the last ones with the little doll clothes taped up. How cute is that!

I am so glad that you DO solider on and keep blogging..there are days when we all think...WHY? And then I look at all the smiles I get from blogging and know, once again, why I continue the journey. xo Diana

Oh sweet friend, if more genius rubbed off on you, you would be in another stratosphere! :-) I'm cracking up over Debra's comment up above right now. LOL! So glad your hubby is ok after that accident! My parents hit a deer last year and it completely totaled their truck...so dangerous. He definitely needs some extra protection! :-) I agree that these blogging friendships are something pretty special and we feel blessed to count you among our friends here.
Have a great week!

Oh how I adore your posts...and photos...a gift you have my Dear. And this one was no exception. So sorry for your Mr's woes. And his tally...I bet the animals scatter, when they see him approach. Congrat's on the sale of your house as well. xo

Thankful hubs is unharmed. Deer have hit me six times, I have never hit them. Weird. If one tenth of anything you post here rubbed off on me I would be thrilled.

I hear you on the taxes. I usually let them dangle until the first week of April. Then our tax lady files for an extension.

I can also relate to the deer accident. Just be thankful no one was hurt (I do feel bad for the deer), cars are meant to be replaced--some sooner than others.

Sweet pictures, they sure make me anxious for spring.

Glad to hear your husband is OK. I am always terrified of a deer going through my windshield and kicking me (or is that a urban myth). Love the photos of the baby clothes on the wall. Genius!

I always love reading your posts and seeing your beautiful photos. What a fun place Carol has, I loved reading your article about her.
My goodness! Your husband has had a lot of run ins with the animals. I'm glad he is always ok. He must obviously travel a road full of wildlife? I'm so glad you sold the old house so you can buy a new vehicle!
Lovely post as always.....

Anne, THANK YOU!!!! for taking the time to shoot and show these pictures of Carol and Tim's new business. I LOVE THIS WOMAN and also call her a friend. Even during the crazy set up to open her new shop she still took time to buy some items from my online store!

I cannot wait to see this shop in person on my way to Round Top this March. I was fortunate to see all of her stores in their heyday and will not miss this one. They never disappoint. How fortunate you are to live there. (I had no idea!)

Just have to say that glad The Mr. was unharmed. Sounds like a serious hit. Have a great week.

I love your eye when you photograph. Carol has nothing on you. You two are equally talented.

Thanks again,

Congratulations on the sale of your house, that must be a big relief! That was good timing, since you now need a new car :) Glad to hear your Mister was okay. Car and deer collisions are fairly common around here. When I go up north to the lake I try to avoid driving at night since I'm kind of paranoid about it.

Your photos look beautiful, as always! Hugs ♥

Tonight I have searched the Internet to see if I can order a copy of Romantic Living magazine. The Bolton clan has been an inspiration to me for decades... I can't find it anywhere... I live in a very rural area & have not seen this mag anywhere. Do you know where I can order? email me at:
lynnlbe@gwtc.net
I'd appreciate it!

you're so funny. i enjoy your writing. makes me laugh.
especially about being thankful to afford a "new "note. We do have to remind ourselves many times to be thankful, with a situation like that.
As sick as i was yesterday, i managed to get my Dear to swing by BAM to grab "the" magazine.
I must say it is a great issue, but i was sorely disappointed with how short your article was. I wanted to see way more of those pics.
I mean, i was expecting a huge spread,(try not to think impure thoughts about that last comment. It just sounded good on paper. But, then again, not really.)
Okay, well......let's move on.
I'm just grateful you are generous enough to put them on your blog for us to enjoy. I hope you never run out. And, no pressure. But, i do appreciate all that you do to maintain such a beautiful blog.

It sounds like your dear husband has quite the radar for running over and killing things, except for the already-dead hog. Sorry his car is history, but glad that he's okay. All of the sudden I'm picturing a Pontiac Vibe with a brush guard. :)

I could live in Carol's store. Beautiful objects everywhere you turn. Wow! It's a shame that she's in the 'wrong' Fredericksburg.

I am so glad to hear that your hubby is ok! and yes that guard is certainly in order, sheesh! :) Goregous images and treasures, sooo pretty! thanks for sharing my dear! xoxo

Hi Anne,
First...I am sorry to hear about the car, glad that Mr. twig is ok. How did the deer fare?
I am SOOOOO Happy to hear you have sold the other house! Good for you...GOOD LUCK at your closing!
I love the pic of the insect board, the green bottles wrapped in basketry. the green wine bottle with the cross,
the books of birds and butterflies and pages.

You know me, honest to the point. I like some of what she has and some of it I think should be marked for the dump. but that is just me.

I checked out Magnolia Pearl...
again, some I like, some I don't. BUT, it doesn't matter as I could never afford any of it. (Not sure I would pay that kind of money for one top or skirt even if I had that kind of money though)

I can FEEL your mood lately through your words, and it is wonderful to know that you are coming back to life, and there is a bit of a spring in your step, and I know you are smiling more. That makes me completely thrilled!

We've been there with the deer as we live in the woods, sometimes they run out ahead of you in the road, and you stop, and they just stand there looking at you, and you have to wait til they move, before you can continue on your way.

There are 2 hunting lodges on our "street" and it is funny we see deer in sooo many herds, months and weeks leading up to the first week in December (Buck hunting week) and that week we do not see them...i think they are getting smart. we have noticed this "phenomenon" over the past 15 years of the 26 that we have been in this house.
I love Animals, and I think they do not get enough credit for intelligence. how are the dogs faring (your gal and the one you had to give away)??

Much love and hugs,
Susan

Your DH Hunts in a most unique way, with a car rather than a gun! *Winks* Glad he is okay though and the only casualties were the old car and the deer! *whew* Congrats on selling the Home and the delight of being able to get a new car... I will soon be car shopping myself as my old one is about ready to give up the ghost.

And thank you for more fab eye candy from Carol's amazing Shop!

Dawn... The Bohemian
