Looking UP!

My post title today actually has a double meaning.

As promised, here are the pics
of the upstairs of our potential new home.
You can get up to speed on my adventure here and here.

But the phrase looking up
also means that it's all in God's hands now...
we submitted an offer on this magnificent property today,
so now we sit.
And wait.
And pray.

And if you want to pray with me, that would be wonderful!

So here we go, let's poke around
the nooks and crannies of my (maybe) new upstairs!

These are the stairs leading up to the second floor
of the original part of the house.
There's another set of stairs for the loft addition,
we'll head up those later.
And no, the fat cat doesn't come with the house!

And now from the "what were they thinking" files...

Uh.....yeah.
Let's head across the hall, mmmkay?

Now that's more like it!

Darling!

Oh, and each of the upstairs bedrooms have
BIG closets that the current owners had built-in.
VERY nice feature to find in a hundred year old home.

Now let's mosey over to the newer, two-story loft addition....

That's it there smack dab in the middle,
right between the original house and garage.

The loft stairs.

But in the interest of honesty,
let's just call them the stairs to my studio.  :-)

The loft landing.

Can you imagine creating in this incredible, light-filled space?

But to be perfectly honest, this whole house just inspires me.
It makes my heart sing, plain and simple.

So there you have it!
Thank you so much for taking the time to look at these past three posts,
and most especially for all those encouraging comments.
They really help me to believe that maybe....just maybe...
We'll be calling this stately old gal home before too much longer.

Have a wonderful night, my friends!

Happy Sunday!

Wishing everyone a bright, cheery, lovely Sunday!
And a Happy Father's Day, too!

P.S. Absolutely loving my brand new Ironstone pitcher
that I grabbed from Homestead in Fredericksburg
the other day!

A Little Bit of Paint, A Little Bit of Love

Welcome to Part Two of My (Maybe) New House Tour!
Today we're looking at part of the downstairs.

We went back again this afternoon for a second look,
to get more pictures, and we took my mom over to have a look, too.
(mom loves it, and she isn't even a vintage house lover!)

But everything is still very much in "maybe" territory,
as we still have just a few more houses to look at.

But having said that, we've still authorized our agent
to submit an offer this Monday, so I guess we shall know very soon!

So after seeing my
GORGEOUS pics yesterday
of the outside of the house, it's time to share the inside pics,
which is where the title of this post comes from.

Yes, it's gorgeous.
And yep, it has me written ALL over it.

But....

it's still gonna take a little bit of paint and a little bit o' love
to restore this 100 year old gal to her former glory.
But ain't that true of all of us old gals?! ;-)

So without further ado, let's start the tour!

Welcome to the foyer, and if we move in, s
ay goodbye to the hideous paint color and the cheap looking light fixture!
White paint and a suitable chandy will be in order, don't ya think?

Living room, looking into foyer.

Living Room.
Picture my Carol Hicks Bolton / Homestead couch there instead.

I actually went into Homestead yesterday and schmoozed owner Tim Bolton
into hiring me part-time if we move to Fredericksburg.
Okay, he didn't actually hire me, but he laughed and said he'd consider it!

And to the far right, you get a wee glimpse of the aqua kitchen...

And this room would be where the "little bit of love"
will come in handy. It needs some work!
I was thinking of re-painting the kitchen,
but after seeing this lovely for sale over at Tara's shoppe...

I'm thinkin' of just ordering it, and saving on the paint!
This would fit right in with the existing color scheme, eh? ;-)

And let's not forget the adjoining dining room...

Moving back into the foyer, across from the living room,
we have the "red room"...

It's being used as the Master Bedroom,
but I see it as a sitting room-office space, with maybe a sleeper sofa tucked in for guests.
I'm sorta diggin' the red!

This concludes day two of our tour, I'll be back next time with lots of fabulous upstairs pics,
as well as some surprises.

And I would be completely remiss if I didn't introduce you
to our two tour guides for the showings....

See the ginger kitty on the left, trying to be all camo for the shot?
These uber friendly felines followed us everywhere we went as we scoped out the property.
Too cute!

Have a wonderful Sunday,
and Happy Father's Day to my dad and all the rest of you dad's out there!

We're Almost There (Our New Home? )

What does this photo say to you?

It's the front door of the house we're likely
going to make an offer on soon.
And I'll tell you what it says to me at the end of this post.

I did promise shots of all the houses we toured yesterday.
And they're coming, slowly but surely.

But it was such a long day.

We looked at FOUR marvelous homes, and I can say

without reservation

and

without hesitation

and with only the wee-est amount of trepidation,
that I have fallen hard, fast, and I'm just embarrassingly, downright

silly

over one house in particular.

This house...

The facts:

It's in Fredericksburg, Texas
only 20 miles away from where I currently live and work

Located in the historic district
Only one street over from all the amazing downtown antique shopping

Built in 1910

2400 square feet

Wood floors and beadboard ceilings (both in excellent shape)

And---get this...central air! No melting in the 100 degree Texas Summers!

Word from the seller's agent is that the sellers are motivated. Like, ready to sell yesterday.

Just a couple more outside shots for today, than it's off to Trade Days in Fredericksgurg.

You're looking at the side of the house here.
An addition was built in between the original house and garage
which blends seamlessly...it's a HUGE two-story loft space with panoramic windows.
It says "studio" to me.

You see?
Original garage to the left, house to the right,
and the seamless loft addition in the center.
It's a gorgeous, light-filled space.

But back to the question I posed at the beginning of this post.
I asked what this image says to you...

To me?

I think it says home.

:-)

p.s. more pics to follow next post!

One Step Closer...

...to my dream

...to our dream

An entire day tomorrow will be devoted
to touring prospective new homes.

Well....new to us, that is!

We have a list of wonderful, glorious, stately,
chippy-charming old houses to view,
and
guess who's taking her camera with her
to document the process?

In fact, the image above ( and my new header )
was taken by me two days ago inside one of the front-runners.

Dreamy, huh?

Wish us luck

Send us good thoughts

Tuck in a prayer

Keep ya posted!

XOXO,

It Breaks A Mother's Heart!

Oh, my sad, pitiful fur daughter!

Formerly named Belle, re-dubbed Conehead of late
to better suit her current plight.

Conehead had to have some minor eye surgery last week,
and will be sporting her ceremonial headpiece for a few days longer.

It only slowed her down momentarily, she's now navigating the yard,
her food and water bowls,
and the back steps like she was born with the thing on.

She's even been getting extra treats simply for looking so darn pitiful.

Causing this guy...

(aka Mr. "OMG, I think I'm starving to death all the time, feed me, feed me NOW!")

to wonder what he might be able to pull off to land a cone of his own!

Have a tail waggin' night!
