A thirst quenched....

An eruption of color lit up the late afternoon sky
after a steady rain this afternoon. Driving home from work,
I phoned my husband and said "Get the camera. Now.
There's a rainbow outside like you would not believe!"
One of these days, I'll learn to take my camera with me,
but after seeing these images he captured,
I'm thankful he was the one behind the lens.

It's been a brutal Summer here in the Texas Hill Country;
the water supply has been substantially depleted as a result
of the extended drought. It's also gone down as one of the
hottest Summer's on record, with temperatures lingering
well over 100 degrees for weeks on end.
Crops and gardens dying. Wells drying up.

And then as if by divine providence.....

Prayers answered.

We've received a good soaking this past week,
and the parched earth audibly heaves a grateful sigh.

Just beyond a grove of trees
across from our property.

There are no words, except "thank you, Father...."

I am thrilled you got rain. I do no like brown. And his photos are gorgeous! I like the fur baby in the picture.:)

Amen to that! Though we are drowning here in Central Texas and the rain has kept me from painting things that need to be painted and I was invaded by a swarm of mosquitoes yesterday afternoon, I too am thankful for the rain. Especially for those who are getting what they needed most. Amen.

Such beautiful photos Anne. My sister-in-law lives in San Antonio, so I know how hard it's been this year. I'm so glad you've had some rain. Hopefully, the temps will go down soon and give you all a break. How do your poor pups with all that fur stand it? Do they lay in front of the fridge?

I'm with you. When it rains, it just can't be a bad thing. That is...until there is an outdoor antique show. That, my dear, would be a great time for no rain. (fingers crossed!) ~Mindy
