While cleaning out the barns today at the new homestead,
feast your eyes on what we unearthed...
My husband saw it the other day, but didn't tell me about it...on purpose, I think.
He knew I'd flip when I saw it,
and would want him to stop working immediately
and would want him to stop working immediately
to move it into a prime photo-op location.
And he was right. {grin}
It was supposedly used to cart big blocks of ice
or served some such utilitarian function.

But I'm thinking coffee table material.
I'll just need to clean it up and get a nice piece
of glass cut to put on top and voila!

Instant, industrial chic, Restoration Hardware style coffee table....
What are you thinking?
Have a wonderful Sunday,
and don't forget to turn your clocks back tonight!

COFFEE TABLE!!!!!!! What a treat that you found it on your new property. Great story to tell for years as you sit around it sipping coffee or tea! Love it.
Pure treasure!
I'm thinking you have the right idea !

SCORE! Funny how we get SO excited to find really cool stuff. Love it.
Take care, Sue
I would have been doing a happy dance right there in the barn! Doesn't it make you want to go digging for more? I think it would make a great coffee table and the fact that it was found on the property will make it a great conversation piece.
Jane
Anne--I have one of these and at the house I just moved out of I had my husband hang it on the wall (in a stud with a really big hook)upside down. I used it as a towel rack. I don't have room in my new house to hang it so I will be using an old ladder instead. Mine didn't have the two metal pieces that run up and down. My handles were open.
I'm thinking it's pretty fabulous no matter where or how you use it. Great find and I'm sure it's only the first of many more to come!
Oh my goodness, that would be a great find anywhere. But the fact that you found it on your property makes it all the more special!
oh lovin' it you lucky girl!!!
show us asap when ya get it all fancied up...:)
I'm thinking that house may end up paying for itself in buried treasure.
Debbie
Oh my gosh Anne, I love it!... so many ideas running through my head on how to use it... until you decide, how about some mushy soft pillows on it and hubby can wheel you around your new farmstead as you take photos of all the treasures you find for us to see! tee hee hee... xoxo Julie Marie
Oh, it's definitely a coffee table . . .

Oh my gosh! You have to tell me what you end up making out of this because I have one of those in our side yard! I guess I ought to get it out of the weather. Yours is in much better condition than mine though. Great idea about the coffee table! What else ya got?
Iced coffee served on that coffee table/ice dolly! Great find!

I'm thinkin you are one lucky girl! I mean that thing is incredible and the fact that it was in YOUR barn waiting just for YOU makes it awesome. Keep digging, girl, and finding those treasures. I bet there are lots more.
Anne,
This is one of the many joys of owning an old house. It is one big treasure hunt! GMTA - I instantly thought: That would already be in my living room! Love it!
Your Friend,

You had an "American Picker" experience in your own yard! How totally cool is that?
well, shoot! it's a handcart...I never thought to see one as a "cart" - minus the hand part...
slap me upside the head and call my silly ~
Wow, now that's a real find!! Looking forward to seeing how you use it!
Holy Moly! That is an amazing find! How fun to be able to uncover things from a farm-stead. I'm sure there's tons you don't want to touch, but just the occasional chippy find is more than worth all the work. WooHoo!
What an amazing lucky find, it is going to look incredible as a coffee table.
You lucky lucky girl you! This goes perfectly with your new 'no buy zone' resolve!
In our old house (Victorian townhouse) we found some stunning original pine shelves in the shed, with old paint pots and rubbish on them. We brought them in, cleaned them up, had a carpenter friend make some glazed doors, and Voila! They became our new bedroom wardrobe. Buried in the garden of our present home we found an original grind stone - this is now the centre part of our water feature. The birds love to come down, sit on the grind stone, and have a shower from the fountain.
Don't ya just love it when you find treasures??!!
x
OMG Anne, what a wonderful find. I think it will make a great coffee table!!!

Authentic equals WAY better than that Restoration Hardware price tag! ;) Can't wait to see it in your new home.
AWESOME!
Maybe you'll find more treasures as a prize for having to wait so long to move in!
Have a great Sunday!
I think I love it! Totally cool coffee table material. I don't think I've ever seen one with the criss cross metal pattern. That is perfect for holding glass.
I'm going to IKEA today!! I had to shout it across the miles because I am sooo excited! I don't get to go very often!!
xo
Polly
Anne, that's what I was thinking too! A coffee table or even WALL ART! Propped next to your front door vertically you could hang wreaths on it seasonally. It's too perfectly divine to not use! Lucky girl!
Hugs, Diane

Very cool find! I can't wait to see your makeover for it!
Jeanine
What a treasure! Yes, coffee table for sure. Ludky you--my husband would have tossed this in the trash if he found it.
Awww, what a sweet guy. That bit of chippy blue, and the wave-y metal... its' understated coastal character says hello to me :-)
OMG... you lucky chick!! Your dreams came true !! LOVE it! Hugs, Janna
Hello again Anne... your posts are just so much fun, I had to come back and read everyone's comments and see what they thought you should do with your new found treasure... your little farmhouse and property and outbuildings is my dream come true place! I am so happy for you and can't wait to see what else you discover... thanks for visiting my blog today... I am NOT a prissy missy either and somehow I knew you would not be either... your beauty shows in your lovely face and all of the things you say and do...I love farmhouse style and that with my love of Nature is pretty much what our home is like... just wish I had your barns and outbuildings and all of the property that surrounds them!... can't wait to see more of your photos, this is like going on a wonderful little vacation for me!... xoxo Julie Marie
These carts also look good in the garden with square wash tubs of flowers sitting on them! Love the crustiness of it all!
