Styling, Photography, Farmhouse Living....Carol Spinski

In this post,
I shared a bit about overcoming my fears and insecurities,
insofar as they relate to how I run this here blog.

I promised that the focus of my little corner of the net
would be more on what's going on in the Twig household,
and that's still the plan.

But I simply must  alert you to a beautiful, inspiring new website
belonging to my sweet, amazing friend
Gosh, I love this gal!

She is a true Renaissance woman in every sense of the word...

Most of you probably know her from her highly influential blog,
Raised in Cotton

 {photo courtesy Carol Spinski}

She is an accomplished photographer and photo stylist,
and her work has been featured in
Artful Blogging, Somerset Life, Romantic Country, Where Women Create,
Somerset Home and Romantic Homes, just to name a few.

Her GORGEOUS 1865 farmhouse will be featured in the fabulous Fifi O'Neill's
utterly fabulous new book, Romantic Prairie Style.

She is also an antique dealer,
and is co-owner of the vintage shop Raised in Cotton in Raymore, Missouri.
Be sure to visit her online shop, it's just wonderful!

She is an RN, a wife and a mom.
Heck, this gal does it ALL!

But to me, she has been a creative lifeline and a godsend.

Always just an e-mail or a text message away, she has helped me immeasurably
as I have struggled to grow as a photographer.

 {photos courtesy Carol Spinski}

Always there with an encouraging word or a suggestion,
her cheerleading has truly helped me to believe in myself.
I truly would not have had the courage to recently take on
my first big photo shoot had it not been for Carol.

She believed I could master my scary Nikon D700,
and whaddaya know?

She was right. :-)

Having selflessly helped me  with my  fears and insecurities,
I think that EVERYBODY needs a Carol in their life!

Head on over and get to know my friend, Carol.

Happy Wednesday!

Anne, what a wonderful friend and mentor you have! Carol is such a talented lady. I can't wait to head over and visit, but her pictures you posted are amazing!!!! I love the picture of her home in the snow. Yes, we all need someone like her in our life to push us to our limit and make us believe in ourselves. So glad that she has been such an inspiration to you, Anne, because you are a very TALENTED lady yourself. (And I just know that God has some wonderful things in store for you!) I can't wait to see more of your work. Hopefully the two of you will get to meet each other one day. Wouldn't you both have a lot to share with each other? It's interesting that you both are in the medical field. Beautiful lady with equally beautiful pictures. Thanks for sharing Carol with us. Love & blessings from NC!

Isn't it wonderful when you find someone in your life who can be so inspirational, iconic even, yet 'real'. These types of friends are so few and far between but when you find one you know that you have been blessed. I'm so glad for you Anne that your paths crossed so that you could overcome your fears. And thank you for sharing Carol with all your blog buds - she has also been an inspiration to me too!

Two observations...
A truly self-confident person is always willing to share without fear and...
A true friend isn't afraid to shine the spotlight on their friends and are content to stand back in the shadow.

how wonderful that she has been able to mentor you in your photography! i do love her website/blog! i love to take photos and edit them, etc. i really need a new camera, a nice one, but not one that is overwhelming. i'm going to have to do a lot of research on finding the right one for me...i'm excited to get a new digital camera though! i was once a photography major in college, but that was before the rise of digital, so i am not too familiar with digital cameras besides my point and shoot. do you have any recommendations for cameras in addition to the one you use? i would love any input you have, as your photos are so pretty! sorry this is so loooooong....
